BFP this morning and I've got questions!!!!
My doctor's appt w/ my OB will be the week after next, so mind if I pick some brains on a couple of things?
1) What foods should I be staying away from or having very little of?
2) I have cut down the caffiene from one full cup or 2 of caffienated coffee to 1 half caffienated-half decaf per day, 5 days a week. Should I be cutting it down further? Should caffiene be completely eliminated?
3) What facial cleansers can I use? A friend of mine who is PG told me that she had to stop using medicated cleansers.
4) Which pre-natal do you recommend? I tried the CVS brand while we were TTC and it got me pretty sick to my stomach.
5) Anything else I should or should not do while I wait for my doctor's appt?
Sorry for all the questions. I have a zillion people around me now who are PG, but DH does not want to tell anyone yet.
We are so excited! I was not expecting my BFP this am (took w/ clear blue digital). Based on the due date calculator on some of the web sites I belong to, the approximate due date will be halloween! DH and I met on halloween, so I am totally excited by this!
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! I'm sure there will be more questions later. Obviously there will be more later.

Re: BFP this morning and I've got questions!!!!
You can drink some caffeine...it is good that you cut down but it isnt necessary to totally stop. Believe me you will be tired during the first few months.
Prenatals before I had my prescription ones I used Targets version. They were fine.
Cleansers I am not sure about.
Just try to be as healthy as possible you are no longer doing this for yourself but for your child
Oh yeah...CONGRATULATIONS!!

Re: BFP this morning and I've got questions!!!!
YAY! Congrats!
1. Foods to stay away from: They say that you should steer clear of cold cuts (unless you warm them up)
2. If you look on the pregnancy board somewhere below they list how many ounces of caffeine you can drink a day. I think what you are having is perfect.
3. Never heard anything about facial cleansers
4. I have a prescription from my dr. Foltabs. I take it at night the second before I go to bed. That doesn't make me nauseous anymore - when I took it during the day I was so sick!
5. The only thing I can say is try and relax!!!

Re: BFP this morning and I've got questions!!!!
1) What foods should I be staying away from or having very little of? Your going to hear different schools of thought on this, first check with your doctor. Non pasteurized cheeses are a no no, cold cuts is controversial some people eat them some dont.
2) I have cut down the caffiene from one full cup or 2 of caffienated coffee to 1 half caffienated-half decaf per day, 5 days a week. Should I be cutting it down further? Should caffiene be completely eliminated? You should limit your caffeine to 30 mg per day. So 1/2 regular and 1/2 decaf is fine.
3) What facial cleansers can I use? Ask your doctor about the facial cleansers some medicated ones are contraindicated with pregnant women. I know cetaphil is good to use. and is safe.
4) Which pre-natal do you recommend? I use and continue to use Target prenatals my entire pregnancy my doctor said there is no difference.
5) Anything else I should or should not do while I wait for my doctor's appt? Cant color your hair.

Re: BFP this morning and I've got questions!!!!
Congrats!
I spoke with my Dr twice about this. You can drink coffee..a small cup or two a day, but then limit your caffeine intake. She said the only thing to stay away from is unpasteurized cheese. She said nothing about cold cuts. I know a lot of girls on here do not eat them, but I have serveral friends with kids and they all ate cold cuts (turkey & cheese) during pregnancy and their children are fine. Everything is in moderation. I asked about tuna fish and was told it had less mercury than fresh tuna. Only eat it once a week. Salmon, tilapia, fillet, cod...she said can be eaten everyday if I wish. It was fine. You are going to hear different things, and make yourself crazy. Years ago there was no lists of "do's and don'ts."
If your really concerned call your Drs office and just ask.

Re: BFP this morning and I've got questions!!!!
congrats & welcome!!
1) What foods should I be staying away from or having very little of? this list varies with every person you ask, because every doctor has their own list. I would highly recommend calling your doc about this list. They can answer any ?? you have before your appointment.
2) I have cut down the caffiene from one full cup or 2 of caffienated coffee to 1 half caffienated-half decaf per day, 5 days a week. Should I be cutting it down further? Should caffiene be completely eliminated? This is another one that needs to be determined by your doc...sorry!
3) What facial cleansers can I use? Once again - this varies per doc. My doc said NO benzoil peroxide - but i CAN use salicylic acid. A close friend - her doc said the OPPOSITE - unfortunately, another ?? for your doc.
4) Which pre-natal do you recommend? I have a VERY VERY sensitive stomach, Target brand Prenatals have never bothered me at all. (i have a history of ulcers and IBS, so it's huge that it didn't bother me)

Re: BFP this morning and I've got questions!!!!
Thanks for the info ladies! As I can see, opinions seem to vary from Dr. to Dr.
I am going to call my OB on Monday and advise them of the BFP's and ask what they think...or if they can even see me sooner.
