We've gone a couple of times and while the food is good, you have to wait on loooong lines. It can be a little crazy but it's fun. We usually head to Duke's across the street from the park afterwards for a beer or two.

Sorry about the link guys, I don't know what happened there.
Anyway, here's some basic info.
Big Apple BBQ is a bbq festival. A gathering of what are considered the best bbq pit masters across the US. They cook their specialties- ribs, pulled pork, brisket, beans, corn bread etc. They set up huge smoker trucks along Madison Park and cook all day long.
There is NO entry fee, you only pay for what you purchase.
The plates are standard and cost $8, no matter who the vendor is. No substitutions.
Madison Park is in the Flatiron district, from 23rd street to 26th street, and 5th Avenue to Madison
