Big gift for Christmas or when sibling arrives?

DD is 1.5 and I really want to get her a play kitchen. She will go nuts for it. Would you get it for Christmas or have it be her big sister gift when the baby comes in the spring (when she will be two)? MIL suggested waiting until the baby comes but I don't want it be like a "mommy guilt" gift. Does that make sense? Wwyd?

DD is getting the kitchen for Christmas, because I think she will love it and get alot of use out of it this winter.

However when the new baby arrives, I will be getting her a few big sister gifts from the new baby..probably nothing huge just a few things to make her feel extra special!

DD is getting the play kitchen for Christmas- I think her baby sister is going to bring her a fish Chat Icon and her own baby doll.

Re: Big gift for Christmas or when sibling arrives?

I say Christmas. I think for a big sister gift I would do a few small things.

For DS when his brother was born, I had 2 gifts for him, a new game he wanted and a new thomas the train...its cute (he was 3.5yo) because he really thinks that those gifts were in my belly and that his brother picked them out for him! I gave them to him the first time he came to see his brother in the hospital.
THe other good thing about giving small things is you can give it when they visit (if you plan on having them visit the hospital) so it can be a distraction from the anxiety they get with a new sibling and seeign mommy in the hospital etc.
