Spinoff to big Christmas gift... age for play kitchen??

DD will be 16 months at Christmas and we're thinking about getting her a play kitchen. I've been looking online and I like the grow with me kitchen and the step2 lifestyle... but i'm wondering if we should wait until she's older, maybe for her 2nd birthday instead?

I found this little play kitchen that we could get her for christmas that I think she'd like... wdyt? Should we just go for the big kitchen or wait and get something like this for now?

DD is 16 months old now and she would LOVE to have a big play kitchen. We're holding off till Christmas though.

I would get the full size kitchen. Chat Icon

Get a bigger kitchen if you have the room, and she's the perfect age for it - she will grow into it more and more as time goes on.

Jess, I have the little one that you posted & it's not that great. Not enough sounds & lights imo. My DS got it when he was 6 months. I'd get the big one.

also wanted to add that I gave the item 2 or 3 stars on the website & they never posted my review.. they only post the good ones!

That kitchen you pictured will be too babyish I think at her age. At age 1 my DD got the FP Grow With me Kitchen and LOVED it but eventually it became a little babyish so for her 2nd bday we got her the Step 2 Lifestyle Kitchen and she is in heaven. I would say it's better to get her one that's a little too old for her because she will grow into as opposed to a babyish one that she really won't get much out of.

Re: Spinoff to big Christmas gift... age for play kitchen??

Link to the one that we have. I LOVE that it isn't too big and doesn't overwhelm the room (we have it in the den). Both of my girls love it (4 and almost 2). The little one started playing with it as soon as she could pull herself up on it (around 10 months). Now she makes me coffee and snacks Chat Icon

The price listed is GREAT - we paid a lot more and they offer free site to store shipping.

I agree-she will outgrow that smaller one quickly. If she was 1 year, I would say the smaller one would be okay, but she will be closer to 1.5 years.

I just got the one you posted, DD is almost 13 months.

We dont really have the room for a huge play kitchen in our house.
It's been a few days and she likes it. I dont see it being a favorite toy.

But I think the fisher price laugh and learn might be a better one.

me too. We got it for Liam's 1st Christmas (he was just under 1 years old). He liked it and at about 18 months he started "cooking" with it.
