Big, huge comments?
Do comments such as "you got big" or "you're huge" bother you? I've been getting these a lot more often and they really irk me. Is that supposed to be a compliment?!?! To me those words shouldn't be used at all especially toward a pregnant woman. So many times I'm so tempted to just say I'm 35 weeks pregnant. I mean really?!?! I think that's supposed to happen. I was just curious if this bothers anyone else or if my pregnancy hormones are again making me more sensitive.

Re: Big, huge comments?
I think the point of being pregnant IS to get big/huge. So when people would say that it didn't affect me at all. You are 35 weeks pregnant, do you expect to be small? I mean you have a human being growing inside of you, you HAVE to get big. I don't think people are saying it to make someone feel bad, I think its just at some point in everyones pregnancy they look really big and people are excited and in awe of it all

Re: Big, huge comments?
I haven't , until yesterday when a cashier said I looked like a basketball.
It bugged me a bit.
But, whatever...I just think: I'm due in 2 weeks, and I will be back to my normal size shortly......

Re: Big, huge comments?
it def bothers me!! especially since im only 26 weeks and people think im ready to pop!
just dont know why or when it became socially acceptable to insult pregnant people!!
if someone wants to say something, just say awww look at that cute belly! even if it is huge! the words big, and/or huge should never be used toward a preggo!!

It doesn't bother me at all - I agree with the pp, that is what happens when you are pregnant! I don't think people mean any harm by it.

Ditto! it's the one time in a woman's life w here they can have a "belly" and it's perfectly acceptable and should be embraced.

I think it's quite funny for some reason. I laugh when I'm told that! I guess b/c we are pregnant and SUPPOSED to be big. KWIM? Don't take it personally. You are growing a person! How could you not be big?

if someone wants to say something, just say awww look at that cute belly! even if it is huge! the words big, and/or huge should never be used toward a preggo!! see that's how I feel also. There is a nicer way of saying things. You look great would have worked just fine. The words "big" and "huge" just don't sound very nice to me. If they are that hung up on saying something about the belly you could really say wow you look great, youre all belly, or your belly is so cute. I would have even settled for "your growing but you look great". I don't know but I really don't see how people don't mean any harm by it. You wouldnt say those words to an overweight person. Why would you say it to a pregnant person. It's not right. It can be taken the wrong way.

Don't let them bother you at all. And know that once this baby is here and you get a routine for yourself and get things under control you will be right back on track. This 9 months does not belong to us... Our bodies are not our own...

Re: Big, huge comments?
it doesnt bother me really. I know that my belly grows really fast week to week so I just let it roll off my back. What does bug me is when people ask when Im due and I say about 2 1/2 months they say "oh wow..." i would have guessed sooner" then I have to tell them that I'm having twins and they shut up.

I don't let it bother me. I was huge the first time and it seems that I'm going to be even bigger this time so I just go with it when people make comments! After all, it is true

I 100% totally agree!!! A woman I work with said to me last week "are you sure you aren't having twins because you are huge" and I was so upset. I said to DH, "huge" should never be a word said to a pregnant woman, EVER!!
I also agree with other posters, it is what happens, we are supposed to be getting bigger, especially towards the end. You look so beautiful, please don't ever think otherwise!!!!

Re: Big, huge comments?
oh yeah. With both pregnancies!
WIth DS I had someone ask if I was having twins when I said no he said when are you due...wait let me guess and guessed 2 months prior to my due date!!
I carry all in my belly, I gain very little weight elsewhere so my belly looks HUGE.
This time around my ILs keep joking that there is actually 2 in there. But my response this time is basically yeah well this is what growing a 10lb baby looks like!

Re: Big, huge comments?
Not yet it hasn't bothered me. I'm the one usually showing people my belly asking them if they can see how big I've gotten. I think it would bother me if a stranger or someone I didn't like said it.

From behind I still don't even look pregnant. I'm just a belly so maybe that's why!!? Because in proportion to everything else it does look bigger!

Re: Big, huge comments?
Yes, the word huge is a little daunting. I sent my sister a picture of me she lives OOS, then she sent a copy to my brother. My sister told me I looked huge but it's all baby. Then my SIL tell me the same thing. She saw the picture and I look huge but it's all baby. Nice to know people are talking about how huge I am amongst themselves! I try to shrug it off but the word isn't exactly a complimentary one. The least they could do is add a nice adjective like "Beautifully huge"

Re: Big, huge comments?
Its terrible how people (other women) feel they are entitled to make big/huge comments! The other day an older woman told me how I am very big. Really? I'm 7 and a half months pregnant and I don't really think I am this big eyesore. The best was when a friend told me how BIG I was at 4 and a half months and looked like I was having a girl because I was so "huge" She's pregnant now, so I hope she is more mindful of comments like this.
Try to let it roll off and do your best to ignore comments like this. Its ignorance.

Re: Big, huge comments?
I was actually told I looked "huge" yesterday.....by another pregnant woman who is 5 days ahead of me!
It just goes to show that some people, even when they are IN it, don't realize how sometimes that can sound.
It depends on my mood, some days it might slightly bother me and others days I just laugh.

Re: Big, huge comments?
It never bothered me when people said that ...and I'm big to begin with.
I don't think they mean any harm by it..just like..wow look at how big you are that baby is growing well.
As women we tend to think big is bad and ofcourse if we weren't pregnant yes it is..there are many health implications to being overwieght and "big"...trust me I know first hand. However in this case I don't think it's meant in any other way than in a good way.
