binghamton area ideas?
we are taking a trip to visit schools with my stepdaughter in couple of weeks. We will see Binghamton on Friday morning & then Albany on Saturday morning. Any suggestions on things to do or see in Binghamton or a nice place to stay?
we have family near albany so we have that day all planned out.

I went to Binghamton for 2 years. When my parents came to visit they always stayed at the Residence Inn in Vestal. It was not even 5 mins from the school and the rooms were always nice. This was 10 years ago though.

That's where my parents stayed too, I believe, also 10 years ago.
I'm actually having a hard time thinking of fun things to do in Binghamton...lol! In downtown Binghamton, there are a couple of good coffee houses, that often have live music at night. My favorite was the Cyber Cafe. They have yummy wraps and things for lunch, along with board games to play. Great atmosphere. Cyber Cafe West
There is also the Lost Dog Cafe , which was always very popular.
Hope that helps!

There is
Ross Park Zoo
There is a Marriott Residence Inn on Vestal Parkway right down the street from SUNY
Marriott Residence Inn
If you are into baseball - there is the Binghamton Mets - Binghamton Mets
Excellent dinner at The Number 5 -
Number 5
You can also check out the Events section of the Press & Sun Bulletin
There is also a Cracker Barrel up there, a ton of antique shops, a Champion outlet..lots of bars and nightlife. It's a college town!

Re: binghamton area ideas?
I went to school there for 2 yrs
Two places good to eat: lunch--Black dog cafe (loved that place!)
dinner--more formal and good Number 5 (DH and I had our first date there )
I don't know if this makes a difference but if I could do college all over again, I'd start at Binghamton all 4yrs (as opposed to what I did--going to Boston U first then transferred). I'm from Albany too and would also prefer Bing for ugrad.
