Birds Nest in Dryer Vents
Has this ever happened to anyone? The eggs hatched this morning. The noise of the babies squeeling made us realized we had nest in there.
I don't want to kill the birds but Im a bit skeeved of the parasites and disease the carry. I called my local autobaun society and they told be those are bird specific and to wait 2 weeks for them to leave and then remove the nest and cover any access to the vent from the outside.

they told you to only wait 2 weeks??
I'd think the hatched birds would still be super young then and not able to live on their own.. i don't know but that sounds like a little too early to touch the nest

Re: Birds Nest in Dryer Vents
We've never had a nest, but did have birds going into our dryer vent. We found an outdoor vent cover that can be attached to the outside of the house at ACE Hardware. It has eliminated the problem.
We just go up on a ladder and check it periodically in order to remove any lint buid up. We don't have to do it very often. You might want to look into it once the babies have flown the "nest."

Re: Birds Nest in Dryer Vents
We caught the birds in our dryer vent before the eggs hatched. DH had to remove the nest-the mama bird watched the entire time squawking.
Sorry, don't have any advice for baby birds that have been hatched.
