birthday cards accompanying gifts for kids
Do you buy cards as well or have your children make them for their friends? As soon as my kids learned to write they made all cards. I also will keep made cards as opposed to store bought ones. What about you?

I have boys. Making cards is their idea of torture. If it wasn't such a hassle I would love for them to make cards for their friends.
On very special occasions I do force them to make cards for close relatives.

I always include a store bought card, but my DD (who is going to be 7) enjoys making cards for family and friends, so I include that as well. She also fills out the store bought card.
My boys are 5 and going on 3, so they're less inclined, nor is their penmanship legible.

I buy cards and then DS "decorates" them and writes the "to" and "from"

I always have packages of blank cards and mostly use those. They just have polka dots on the outside. I will buy cards for special occasions though like 1st birthday, communion, weddings, etc...

Both my kids make cards for their friends. It has always been like that, so they they both accepted it an inevitable and never put up a fight.
