Have you ever been to a birthday party at a movie theater? How are they? Pros and cons welcome!

Birthday parties at a movie theater, like or not?
I don't live on LI but we attended one recently. DD had fun. My only complaint (which probably made more work for the theater because of spills and messes) was that there were no table set up for the kids to eat so they sat in the movie seats. So the kids didn't get to interact with each other as much after the movie was over. They had popcorn during the movie, and pizza and cake after the show.

The kids love them and usually siblings are welcomed to stay. It's nice when they are younger and new to the dark movie scene because they will keep the theatre lighter on request

It is very nice - I think the one downside is - there is little time for interaction amongst the kids. Other than that it was great

Like!
By me, they're usually at 10:15am so it's perfect. Enough time to get out of the house in the morning & leaves the rest of the day free!

LOVE! Kids get to have fun but don't get all rowdy and crazy, so you don't have to spend your afternoon trying to corrall them into some semblance of calm behavior. :)

My kids don't like them, but I have very active, athletic, social boys. For them, a movie is something they watch to wind down, not celebrate with, but I'm pretty sure most kids don't feel the same.

I love them and would recommend them for 3 and up but it's fine for any age really you have the whole place to yourself.

I like them & you can really have fun with a theme. DS likes them.

Re: Birthday parties at a movie theater, like or not?
I just had my DS's party 2 weeks ago at Elwood cinemas in Northport and it was GREAT!!! The kids seemed to have a good time (we saw planes) and it was short enough where it didn't occupy the WHOLE day...plus, the mess stayed at the theater instead of my house!!

Re: Birthday parties at a movie theater, like or not?
We went to one at South Bay Cinema and I thought it was great. The kids ran around the theater like lunatics, aka 6 year olds, before and after the movie too so it was like having calm time and activity time. My only 2 issues were that they didn't brighten the room enough after the movie was over so you could barely see the food/cake and it was tricky to not have a table to put your plate. Lots of dropped pizza slices...
