Birthday Party Etiquette
DS was invited to a birthday party for a kid in his class. We are not able to go. This kid will be attending DS' party in October. What do I do about a gift? What is the normal gift amount nowadays? Do I wrap it and send it with DS to school with the child's name on it? I feel like an social idiot sometimes

Re: Birthday Party Etiquette
I would definitely get a gift. Find out the school policy as far as gifts. I am a teacher and we do not have the parents send in gifts. First off, something might happen to the gift. If the kids are small, and other kids see a gift they might feel bad they are notvgettin one.

Birthday Party Etiquette
Personally, in the past, I have only gotten birthday gifts for the parties we attend, unless it is a child who is particularly close to our family.

Re: Birthday Party Etiquette
We had several people who we got gifts for and attended their parties but did not receive one for DD's party when they did not attend. One close friend couldn't come but did give DD a gift anyway.
