Birthday party yes or no?
After seeing what happened to the little 6yr old boy, whose classmates didn't show for his party, I never thought about it . We normally always invite family, but what's the overall thought of having a birthday party for fellow classmates?

Birthday party yes or no?
Something was really off about that article and I'm not really sure I believe it. No one said they were coming yet she put her son through the torture of going to the party place and have no one walk in. While I think it is awful no one said yes, she was just as bad to put him through that.
I firmly believe that special needs kids need birthday parties to help socialize. Even if one kid shows up that is fine. You have family coming so you know you will at least have some playmates for him. I have had a party for DD since preschool and we always had at least 6 kids show up. Everyone in her class always had some sort of a party and we tried to attend all that we could.

ITA! While I felt terrible for the poor child something didn't seem right. When I plan a party it's not just the class I invite. I have family and friends with kids so I know some kids will be there. I wouldn't go ahead with a party if I haven't heard from 1 child. Never assume everyone is going. I wouldn't do that to my LO. It seemed off.
I think children need a fun celebration, but just know his/her limits. I went to a friend's son's party and we didn't sing the happy birthday song bc it would bother him. My DS used to fear new new toys bc he didn't like the unknown so I never opened gifts at the party. We'd carefully open it and make sure he was ok with it. Now at 5 he rips them open and loves it. Most friends know DS doesn't like walking and talking stuffed animals or loud games so we never get them. If we do we just don't open the package and I put it away before he sees it.

I always had a party for my son when he was younger. He is 16 now. I invited the entire class up until about 3rd grade when he started in a larger class (20 kids, so too many to invite). 99% of the kids invited always came, and my son always had a great time. I would, without a doubt, have a party.

Birthday party yes or no?
I only started having parties out of the house starting in Kindergarten. I have done different things each year, but every year, I have included at least some siblings in the invitation. We have never had all the kids show, or even RSVP, but inviting siblings did make it easier for a few of the kids to make it and my DS had a great time, no matter who showed up.

Thanks ladies. I honestly never thought about it until seeing it on social media. My DS will be 4 in May, so I think we'll wait till next year
