Biting!!!!

Ok, Claire is 9 months old and lately she seems to be very aggressive, she LOVES to bite, it is her new favorite thing since she has 2 teeth, but she will also pull hair, pinch and just wave her hands so quickly like hitting. Of course we are CONSTANTLY telling her 'do nice' and showing her nice SOFT touches, but she doesn't get it! My question is, is this a normal phase or is there some other 'discipline' we should do. It is SO hard because she is obviously very young but at the same time she knows what she is doing. I have tried saying no 'harshly' and trying to 'ignore' her for several seconds, but dont know what else to do.......Please tell me this is normal and I dont have a bully!!Chat Icon

Re: Biting!!!!

its all normal marissa is 12 months and she will bit so when she bites me I very very lighty tap her mouth with my pointer and middle fingers and tell her no bite sternly and she looks at me like I have two heads and will due it again and I do the same thing again if she does it a third time I put her down or walk away from her and not pay attention to her she will try to get my attention by saying momma and hitting but I ignore her then she gets upset and I no bite and pick her up or give her the attention she wants and she will be fine for a little while and then do it again but she has calmed down with the biting cuz now she knows that if she bites she will not get my attention. I know it sounds mean but hey it has worked she doesn't bite as much as she used to
With the hitting and pulling hair I do the same thing I am trying to work on that now. I tell her no hit do nice she will do nice but then goes back to hitting in a playful way.

This is very similar to what we did... It worked...

The only thing is as they get bigger to make sure you AND DH stick to your guns!! My DH hasn't lately, (for other problems), and my son who is at the terrible 2 stage, knows he can get ANYTHING he wants from daddy.. and tries to walk all over me as soon as daddy comes home... Its tough, but these are all stages!! GL!!!!!!

Yeah I hear you on that one cuz thats why its harder with the hitting and pulling hair cuz DH lets her get away with it and I don't I tell him all the time he has to give the same disipline or she will never learn.
