Bittersweet

I've always wanted a dog but DH is against it right now. Well, since Friday, we have been puppy sitting a 9 week old puppy who was the sweetest and cutest thing. Tosee her get so excited to play, when I would walk in the door, and sleeping downstairs for company so she wouldn't cry. In two days I became so ridiculously attached! Last night we had to give it to the person it was intended for, a gift from my MIL to my FIL. And I'm having such a hard time getting over that she's not here anymore. I mean we only had her for two days and I cried last night an seeing the empty cage and pics this morning, I cnt help but cry now too. Am I just being too emotional or is it that easy to get attached that quick? The only pet I've ever had was a hamster and didn't feel nearly as attached in the two years we had him.

Re: Bittersweet

When your DH is ready it sounds like your going to be a great fur mommy..

I just want to mention that you are doing the right thing to not get the dog until you are both serious and on the same page.. I know of some very unhappy situations that come fro one spouse not wanting it and the other one who does,, They are life long obligations.. They are not just a plant you can stop watering .. They need so much love attention and they are a huge expense.. I hate to sound negative but they are the things people dont consider to seriously .. It sounds llke your DH is aware of those things and I feel is so smart to wait for the right time.. And when that time is right .. Get ready for some of the most amazing and wondeful times in your life!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Bittersweet

Thank you for your response. Yesterday was a sad day for me because just looking at the empty cage and the blankets she laid in as well as the makeshift walls we made to keep her out of the living room made me miss her constantly. I know she's in a loving home and well taken care of, I just got too attached too quickly!

Now that most of the things that remind me of her have been put away, it is easier and I just look forward to the day I get to have my own.
