BJs sheet cakes
Maybe someone can help me out with this. We're having a party w about 55 people. The order form says the half sheet cake serves approx. 20-30. And the full sheet cake serves approx 65-70. I don't want to end up with a ton left over. But if course also don't want to run out. Has anyone stretched a half sheet cake for about 50 People and made it work? The half sheet cake looks pretty big, and the full sheet cake looks huuuuuuuuuuuge! 
ETA I just looked at the costco order form, and they claim their half sheet cakes serve 48. So I know I'm not carzy, because we've ordered their cakes several times for parties of 50 or more and always had plenty w left overs. So. Is the costco half sheet cake the same size as the bjs half sheet cake?

BJs sheet cakes
No, 30-50 is a big difference, and for the low price difference I wouldn't chance it.
It's always better to have extra than not enough!

I definitely agree. Its just that sometimes it seem like they undercut the approximation. I thought in the past we've made it work with a similar amount of people and he half sheet cake. But you're right. Def better to have extra than not enough.

I usually do the smaller then supplement with cupcakes. I hate having tons of cake left over.

Their cakes are SO cheap, just get the bigger one. Better to have too much then too little.

I believe there is no such thing as too much cake :)
The last time I ordered BJs cakes, the full sheet does not have a filling-it's just one layer. We usually get 2 half sheets, which have a choice of strawberry or chocolate mousse filling.
If you wrap it well, cake freezes beautifully ;)

That's a good idea. Part of why I didn't want to get the full sheet cake is it just comes as one layer of yellow cake w no filling. Doesn't sound appetizing. Would rather have chocolate cake w a filling. Maybe 2 smaller cakes is the way to go.

We also went with two half sheet cakes, we did one with chocolate and the other with strawberry mousse. I didn't like that the full sheet doesn't have filling.

You can see the sizes when you're there. There's usually a few in the refrigerator case waiting to be picked up.
We had an adult party with about 40 people and got the full sheet. We had leftovers, but it's better than running out.
We had a kids party with 22 kids + adults and did a half sheet. It was more than enough and we had leftovers. But they were kids, so it was about half a slice each.
It's always better to err on the side of having too much. Get the full sheet. It's only marginally more for the full anyway.

Just added a question to my original post. It seems costco half sheet cakes (i don't think they sell anything bigger) serves 48. We have usually always ordered from them for parties of 50 or more and never had a problem and never even thought about it since it says 48 servings. But does anyone know if they're the same size as the bjs ones? Its not about the price, would just rather have one with a filling, and bjs happens to have a sesame street one, which Costco doesn't have.

Ive had 1/2 sheet cake from BJS for a kids party with like 60 plus kids and adults with a ton left over but I also had cupcakes. I would say, if its mostly adults do 2 - 1/2 sheet cakes (i agree on the 1 layer being kinda meh) or if you have other dessert 1 - 1/2 sheet is fine. If you have mostly kids i think 1/2 sheet is fine.
