Blood clots in the leg?

I have to go to the hospital in a little while to get a venous doppler on my right leg bc my doc thinks I may have a blood clot in it bc it is more swollen than my left. Has this happened to anyone here before? I am really scared!

Re: Blood clots in the leg?

Ahh finally something i can give insight to!

While I have not had a DVT or SVT (deep or superficial vein thrombosis), I do diagnose them as a Vascular Technologist!

What exactly are your symptoms other than swelling (edema)? Swelling alone is NOT a good indicator for DVT. We see pregnant women all the time with edema, more so in one leg than the other. I'd say 99% of the time it's totally benign! Definitely get the venous duplex, and make sure to keep your leg elevated!

I hope you feel better!

Re: Blood clots in the leg?

Hey Lauren, I had this too ...went to the hospital for a sono of my leg and there was nothing. Just ended up being bad edema.. Had to eliminate salt intake and keep legs elevated. Thats why I went out from work a month early! Couldnt stand on my feet anymore.
Keep me posted.

Re: Blood clots in the leg?

Had the doppler-- The tech said she thought i was fine, had the doc there look at it and he didn't admit me, so that made me feel better. They are sending it over to my ob and he will call me with the official results, but I am thinking that i am okay! Thanks for the info and hugs! Chat Icon

Good to hear. I am sure if the doc thought it was a clot they would have done something right then and there.

I had a dvt at 19 weeks. If thats what it was, they would admit you. For me, my leg turned purple, was swollen, and painful.
