Bloodwork with NT scan and after

I had my NT scan and the finger prick blood test done over a week ago. The sono looked good and the nurse said the DR would only call this week if something showed up on the blood. No news is good news seems to be the policy.

My next appointment is a week from Monday and I'll be in the middle of my 14th week. I am reading posts on here about addtional screening tests done at 16 weeks. Would that be a sono and blood again? Is the 16 week blood test another finger prick test? What is the name of the 12 week blood test vs. the 16 week blood test? Is the 16 week blood test still run if the 12 week scan was normal? Things seem to really have changed since having DS almost 5 years ago and now I'm 37 so I know that older age ='s more tests.

12 weeks is the NT and 16 weeks is usually the AFP. AFP is just a blood test, no sono. And yes, you get the AFP even if the NT is different. They are testing for different markers.

Every place is different. When I went for my 16wks appt with my first pregnancy, I had a pre-anatomy scan. I don't remember much else from that day, so I'm not sure ifI have bloodwork.

At 16 weekd they took much more than a finger prick of blood. It was like 5 vials or something like that. I didn't have a sono at 16wks.

12 week blood prick is for tubal defects (goes wiyh NT scan to get your ratio for down syndrome & other abnormalities). At around 16 weeks blood is taken to sreen for Spina Bifida(sp?) Doppler used to measure heart beat it was regular check up. I got the flu shot @ that appt also.no sono.
