Boating Anyone???
DH and I have a boat and are big into boating We miss it now that the winter is here Oddly enough being out there on the water this summer helped me with m/s a lot! Something about being on the water, the wide open space, the smell, the sand, made it all go away
For those of you with boats how old was your child when you 1st brought them on? This boating season she will be about 3 - 4 months old and aren't sure what to do. We are planning to upgrade to a bigger boat with a cabin regardless but not sure to wait until next season when she will be over a year to bring her on or what.

Re: Boating Anyone???
We are big boaters too - but last summer the boat made me so sick LOL
We just bought a new boat for this season and it's being launched April 6th...I'm due May 8th! So this baby will be here just in time for boating season to kick off.
We have a 24.5 foot boat with a full cabin, full head w/shower (bathroom) fully galley (kitchen), sleeps 4...has everything.
I'm not sure how often we'll be out on it. I dont know how I will be feeling at first from giving birth and I dont know how the baby will be with it. I cant really take her out if its too hot and we have to get a little life jacket for her. I dont know what we'll do.
I told DH maybe we'll start out by bringing the boat to the dock and I'll come down to the dock with her and we'll see how that goes. If that goes OK, we can take her for a little trip for an hour or so and see how she does.
We bought one bouncy seat by Eddie Bauer for the boat with can zip up and be fully enclosed with netting (for the bugs on the boat), so we'll use that. I still have to find a baby life jacket though.

Re: Boating Anyone???
Always a pleasure to meet fellow boaters Congratulations on your little girl, our girl is due in 6 weeks We have a 19 foot bow rider, bought it new 2 years ago, love it but thinking a larger boat with a cabin would work better for us. Our concern was her being safe and secure in the boat. Like where would we put her? DH suggested I can hold her in a carrier or sling but I am not sure I will feel comfortable enough with that.

Re: Boating Anyone???
My friend has a boat and took his baby on it at 1-2 months. They kept her in her car seat with a lifevest.

Re: Boating Anyone???
I used to work (for about 6 or 7 years) at a Marina on Fire Island. Honestly, people would start bringing their babies over after just a few weeks. I think Kathy has a good plan, ease into it and see how both you and baby do.

Do you know the size of boat? Did it have a cabin? How did they secure the car seat? Thanks!

Re: Boating Anyone???
24' I think yes it has a small cabin like a bench that turns into a bed, porta potty type thing. I think they have an awning over the open part-the thing I would most worry about is sun probably

We also have a boat. 24' with cabin I am not sure exactly about when we will take the baby out on the boat, but it already has been discussed. We are such boat people that I can't see us not going out on it.

Humm I would be pretty nervous wqith bringing an infant on a bow rider because she'll be in the sub outside the whole time (maybe one of those canopy things would be good). I'd see if there is some kind of baby seat that is made for the boat that you can secure the baby in?
But if you can afford it, maybe look into a bigger boat witha cabin. Even if its only a cuddy cabin, you know?
Where do you boat? North Shore? South Shore? and CONGRATS on your little too!

We have a canopy (bimini top) we rarely use it. I can always call Sea Ray and see what they suggest for infant safety. We boat South Shore, where do you boat?

Where do you go on the south shore? We usually go to Sailors Haven or around that area.
