Booking airlines as one way
So, I’m traveling next summer. Going there seems to have great fares. Even if they decrease in price it won’t be much. Coming back is a Sunday and the fares are high. I’m tempted to wait it out to see if prices drop for the return flight but I’m afraid the going flight may go up. Has anyone ever booked a one-way to secure a good price for one leg, and then later on booked the return as a separate one Way? Are there any negatives/dangers to This?

Booking airlines as one way
I do this all the time. I think back in the day it used to be cheaper to doing one way but not any more. I even book one way on one air line and the other way on another airline if the flights and times work out better.

I do the all the time too. The only time I've noticed that it is more expensive to book one way fares rather than roundtrip is on international flights.
I often book one way with one airline and the other with a completely different one.
