Books for second graders
I am going to be a mystery reader in DS's class this week. Does anyone have any recommendations for books that second graders would like? TIA!

DD is in first but I read a book called The Day the Crayons Quit
it was a hit with them and I did worry a bit that it might be a little over their heads. Teacher loved it-cute story!
Pete the Cat has a new one out with sunglasses that is really cute.
Some books I've done with second grade:
Pumpkin Soup
Enemy Pie
Crazy Hair Day
Clever Jack Takes the Cake
Poppleton, Mr. Putter and Tabby
Fly Guy
Elephant and Piggie
The Little House (oldie but goody)
Anansi the spider trickster tales
Diary of a Worm (Spider or Fly too)
I'm a school librarian and could go on and on these are just some that off the top of my head the kids really have enjoyed. Hope you found something. have fun!

I teach 2nd this year. My class LOVES Mo Willem's books. Especially the Piggie & Gerald books and the Pigeon books. Some other favorites are:
-Enemy Pie by Derrick Munson
-Rollercoaster by Marla Frazee
-Diary of a Worm/Spider/Fly by Doreen Cronin
-Kevin Henkes books (with the mice characters)
-Pete The Cat books
-Poppleton series by Cynthia Rylant

Not a picture book but the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books are a hit with my classes.
