Boredom Poll: Which food do you waste most at your house?
SO bored... I'd rather be bored than swamped with tests, though!
Which food do you throw out the most at your house?
Every week, I have great intentions and I buy fresh fruit (depending on the season - oranges, clementines, etc). I ALWAYS buy too many of them, and they ALWAYS go to waste.

Lettuce! I buy it with the best of intentions and then end up trashing it!

Re: Boredom Poll: Which food do you waste most at your house?
nothing really. i guess every once in a while things might go bad, but we really don't do big food shopping enough for things to spoil
lately, i tend to just stop and pick up a few things at the market for that and/or the next night's meal.

Re: Boredom Poll: Which food do you waste most at your house?
Meat. Lots of it.
I'm constantly buying chicken with the intention of cooking it. The problem is that I don't like to cook so when DH wants to go out/order in, I always opt for that forgetting about the chicken in my fridge.
This may be coming to an end though. I made the world's best chicken cutlets this past week. Maybe I know how to cook after all.

Potatoes. I keep them because they are cheap for a big bag. Then I forget I have them and next thing you know they have sprouts..and into the trash they go

all of it.
I go food shopping with the intentions of cooking meals for the week...but that never seems to happen. I end up tossing milk, bread, meat, veggies...I waste a lot! And I hate when it happens.

Re: Boredom Poll: Which food do you waste most at your house?
milk - I only buy a pint, but I'm the only one who uses it, and just in my tea or coffee, so I'm always throwing away half of it.

Re: Boredom Poll: Which food do you waste most at your house?
i think bread.... DH goes out to lunch every day, so i'm the only one that uses bread- so when i buy a whole loaf i don't use it all in a week. i keep it in the fridge, but after a week it just never tastes the same, so i always end up trashing part of it and getting a new loaf.... lol thats why i always just buy the cheapest one

Re: Boredom Poll: Which food do you waste most at your house?
Meat but as leftovers ... we always make too much and we throw away what's left most of the time.
I'd say for the most part, everything gets used before it would go bad. I probably throw away lettuce the most because I'm picky about it. But most of the time when I throw it away, it's in condition DH would eat it (which I guess is because he would just put it on a sandwich and it doesn't need to be as fresh/crisp as in a salad )

lol i hear ya- have you tried freezing the meat? we stock up when its on sale and keep a bunch of different kinds ( beef, steak, chicken) in the freezer and just defrost it when we're gonna cook it works great, and you don't end up wasting it...

Funny you say that ... this is another way we waste & throw away meat!! We buy a lot at a time and freeze the majority, take it out when we *think* we are going to make it and then end up not (for whatever reason) and it ends up getting tossed because it's been normal, then frozen, then thawed and sits around!

Re: Boredom Poll: Which food do you waste most at your house?
MEAT! i always buy a huge pack when it's on sale (like $1.29 chicken breast last week at stop and shop) and don't end up using it and it gets too old to freeze.
