bread- I can't get dh to take lunch for the life of me and I have a hard time using all the bread by myself before it goes bad... I can extend its life by putting it in the fridge though.

Veggies. I *LOVE* fresh string beans but every time I buy them I put them in the drawer and then forget about them until they've become a science project.

UGH! way too much food is wasted at our place  I HATE throwing out food.
by far what we throw out the most is produce, since it has such a short shelf life.

DH and I buy what is minimal each week, enough milk, OJ, etc to get us thru the week, so nothing goes rotten.

I would say lettuce when I buy it in the bag. As soon as I open it, if I don't eat it again within 2 days...it gets all mushy and brown

Definitely fruit & veggies...
We LOVE it and eat it a LOT...so we tend to stock up, but we have a REALLY old refrigerator in our apt that just plan ol' stinks!
I can't wait to buy a house and have a nice new fridge!

Fruit. Now I'll buy a few bananas and 2 or 3 apples and alternate it.
I'd buy more and "Swear" I'd eat it..Never happened.

cereal and milk..i always get this cereal craving when i'm shopping and then I eat it once or twice and don't want it anymore..and of course the milk comes along with it b/c I need it for my cereal but hardly drink it otherwise

I hate to waste food, but I do find myself:
feeding the end slices of bread to the birds (no not totally a waste)
throwing out milk if I buy it for cooking and don't use it all
some veggies wilt to quick before I can use them.

I stopped buying fruit b/c I felt I was always throwing it away
( I get breakfast a work- so I grab a piece there)
anything I cook- never gets eaten as left overs
Take out food- left over get thrown away
and I bought all this stuff to make panani's and then Jake decided he was sick of them- so that all got thrown away
milk- he goes on cearal kicks- then he stops- but if I don't have milk- he's looking for it
bascially everything gets thrown away expect Ice Cream!

Fruit. I always buy fruit because I know it is good for us, but it will sit there for weeks. No one ever eats it. When my parents come down and we have none in the house, they will go out and buy a years supply. I always get so mad because I know it will just end up in the garbage.
