Re: Born Free Bottles
I thought about those, because I am concerned about the plastic chemicals. I decided that they are too new, and probably not enough research on them yet
I am sticking to glass bottles

Re: Born Free Bottles
I am going to use Born Free bottles but if my baby has any problems with colic, I will then try Dr. Brown's (and deal with whatever risks those pose).

I am registering for the glass ones. My BF uses them for her son and has been very happy with them.

Re: Born Free Bottles
we are currently using dr brown's and born free bottles, once I purchase couple more born free bottles I will stop using dr brown's... the ones that I have are plastic 5 oz ones, they are bpa free... they have special anti-colic vents a little different from dr brown's but they are so much easier to clean!!!!!! I actually love these bottles and as I said once I have a little bit of free time I am going to go to cvs and purchase some more...

Re: Born Free Bottles
The Born Free bottles and the Medela bottles are Bisphenol A (BPA) free. I bought a few of both and will see which one works best for my baby.

This is great information. I didn't know about these. They are much cheaper than the Born Free.

Re: Born Free Bottles
I've heard Dr. Browns bottles are the best to prevent gas and colic issues, but I am buying Born Free for now since they offer a non-BPA plastic bottle. Glass would be great, but it's just not practical for toting around, which is when I'll want bottles mostly.
The company that makes Dr. Brown bottles announced that they are going to introduce a non BPA plastic bottle sometime next year, so watch for that.

Re: Born Free Bottles
I believe the report said chemical is only released when the bottles are washed in the dishwasher or put in the microwave. If you wash them by hand, the Aven or Dr. Browns should be fine. That said, I just got a bunch of Born Free just to be on the safe side. If my daughter takes them, we'll switch from Avent to Born Free. If she doesn't, I'll keep using Avent and wash b hand.

Re: Born Free Bottles
This is all based on an inconclusive report that said that bottles had to be heated past boiling over 700 times before there was a chance of the bottles letching.
The Baby Bargins thing was weird b/c they said it was Dr. Brown's, Avents and VentAires, those are probably the most popular bottles on the market
We use Avents, VentAires and Drop Ins when we go out. I could not see using glass bottles, I mean broken glass is a KNOWN risk, all of this hullabaloo is over something that COULD be. Just don't microwave your bottles (and you really aren't supposed to anyway.

Re: Born Free Bottles
I spoke with my ped about this issue and he said to just not heat the milk in the others and they were okay. I did get some Born Free plastic ones which are BPA free just to feel better. I didn't want to use glass around the baby. They do make plastic ones without the BPA for those who don't want glass.

We use them for supplementing formula and love them. No gas problems at all (I use the plastic ones)

I am using the plastic bottles and so far so good. They are $$$$. BRU does not carry them in the store but BBB does. Also cvs.com has them.

Re: Born Free Bottles
The drop-ins are also safe to use and extremely easy to clean. I use the playtex, but avent makes them now as well.
