Right now I have a job with a so so boss and I am happy because I like everything else in the job. I like the customers, the coworkers, the area and the job responsibilities.

i have a great boss and because of him my job is great. i think if my boss is a jerk i wouldnt want to work in that environment because negativity spreads negativity. if he's a jerk then it spreads and I'll start to find reasons to hate the job.

I don't know about a so-so boss though, in my business they are either demonseeds or angels from above (and there are very few angels from above)
I think this is common in the arts/entertainment industry,
Unfortunatelyt because I got a "real" job I have to turn down a great, well-paying job with an absolutel angel who is begging me and promising me a slew of assistants and underlings if I do the show. Oh well 
The demons can make it hell though. Fortunately in theatre everything is temporary, especially at my level where the shows are all limited runs. I did one very short run with a demon who wasn't my boss but through she was (and she was trhe wife of my boss) and I hated her and I hated every minute of that job, except for when I was secluded in my booth talking sh*t about about her over the headsets
