Bottle feeding while out and about...
How do you heat up their bottle if you're on the road running around? Thanks!

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I stop somewhere that I can get a glass of hot water and place my pre-made bottle in the glass of hot water.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I purposely stopped heating up bottles for this reason and started using room temperature water. It was such a pain to heat up a bottle when we were out.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I heat them before I leave home and put the bottle in a case that is thinsulate in my diaper bag. Also...if you are at a restaurant they will usually heat it for you. Or, in the malls, I noticed that in the family restrooms, there is usally a microwave.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I got her to take room temp bottles and warmed ones. If she's hungry she'll take a room temp one while we're out shopping.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I'm actually surprised at the amount of people who use room temperature! I wouldn't think the baby would like it. Guess I was wrong! At night I give Connor a formula bottle and I always heat it up. I'm so used to heating them up because of the breastmilk. He's so used to getting them heated I'd feel kind of bad giving them room temperature bottles. I guess he'd get used to it. Thanks!

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I forgot this.
There were a few times when we took road trips that I brought along those hand warmer things. About 15 minutes before he was ready, I opened them and stuck them in the pocket of my diaper bag with the bottle on top of them. It worked faster then the bottle warmer we have in the car.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
Same here...room temp or use a glass of hot water if at a restaurant. Sometimes I even give it to her slightly cold if she is really hungry and there is no alternative. I read that babies like the chill taken out milk because the ice cold can upset their stomach, but room temp is usually fine.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
My ped said that the temp of the formula doesn't matter at all. Except if it is really cold.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I use RTF so my bottles need to be kept cold when out. SO I either ask for a cup of hot water, or if I know I won't have access to hot water I take the bottle out of the cooler about a 1/2 hour before she's due for her next bottle so that way its not too cold.
She'll drink a bottle cold or room temp. I never really gave her a warm bottle.
Cold tends to give her more gas though.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
Ive tried the room temp route but dd looks at me like I have 5 heads as she spits it out. So basically my advice...ask for warm water.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
Mine will not drink room temp. I bought bottle warmers, for the car and on the go ones. They work pretty well

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I have a little thermos that I fill with hot water before I leave. It fits into the side of the diaper bag. Then I just fill the little cup with the hot water and stick the bottle in there.

Re: Bottle feeding while out and about...
I used RTF formula also so Jacob's bottles were always cold when we were out. I would take them out of the cooler a little bit before hand but for the most part the bottles were cold. He drank them.. no probs...
