Bottle help with a almost 22 month old (Long-Sorry)
My son REFUSES to use a sippy cup. He throws them at us. I have every kind made and he won't even try it. This has been an on going battle since he was 7 months old.
Both my other kids were off thebottle by about 1-1 1/2. He has never had an interest in a sippy cup. Over th summer I even tried just a regular cup thinking OK will just skip the sippy cup.
He knows what o do with a regular cup but the minute I put liquid in it he throws it.
Now the bigger problem. I just can't give him a sippy cup and that is it for now even though that is what I did with my other 2 kids. He has GI isues and needs to drink a certain amount of liquid a day to help with his medication. Now add in the fact that he keeps biting holes into the nipples and they won't work then.
I am at my wits end. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I am at such a loss!
Thanks for reading this!

i dont have any great advice-hannah was the same way. have you tried different cups? we finally found success with straw cups. also, we did stop the bottles cold turkey, but i know you cant do that b/c of the hydration issue. could you go cold turkey if you gave him fluids in the form of soups, ice pops etc???

Although DS was drinking out of sippy cups for water and juice for a while he REFUSED for a LONG time to drink milk out of it - he was SO attached to the bottle that I thought he would never get rid of it. Starting when we switched to milk if I dared to try to hand him milk in the sippy he would take one sip, push it out of the way and say ba ba. He would literally walk into the kitchen and point to the bottle rack.
On Christmas Day (he was 15 mos) we slept over my parents and we forgot to bring a bottle for the morning but, I had a sippy cup. We were running so late so he didn't get to drink it until church well he downed the whole thing - I followed the lead and gave him his second milk in the sippy cup also out of his usual routine of the ba ba. It was the easiest thing ever - he just took it no problems (does drink a little bit less though now of everything) - I would have NEVER in a million years thought it would be that easy (we did hang on to the night time bottle though).
So maybe try to change up the routine - give it to him first thing in the morning b/f food and when he is very hungry AND outside of the usual routine in which he gets his bottle...maybe that will help? I'm sure it is MUCh harder now for you b/c i can see even now 3 mos plus later he is so much more attached to things and aware of what he wants but, he was a tough cookie even then and it did work....hth!
