Bottle recommendations for BF moms
BTDT moms please chime in! I am planning on BF, but also would like to eventually pump so my DH can participate in feeding. For those who have done this/or plan on doing this, what bottles do you recommend purchasing? I know that it can be a very individual thing based on baby's preference, but I wanted to see if there is a consensus. I recently registered and my shower is August 1st. The registry consultant suggests putting more than one brand on, since I won't know what baby likes. I will be using a Medela pump, so I wasn't sure if I should also use Medela bottles. I have heard pros/cons about all bottle brands...very confusing! Not sure if some bottles are more compatable with BF than others. HELP!

Re: Bottle recommendations for BF moms
I BFed too but eventually pumped in bottles as well. I used a Medela pump and that does not affect what bottle you use at all. I put the pumped milk into Lansinoh bags and froze them. When DS got bottles I used Playtex Drop Ins. And the advice you got was right, what works for one, even 100 babies, may not work for yours. I wouldn't go crazy getting lots of bottles before the baby is born. Maybe get a couple of one and a couple of another. If neither works remember the store is only a short drive away to pick out a new one. Good Luck!

Re: Bottle recommendations for BF moms
I'm not a BTDT mom but I have been reading the baby bargains book (which is really helpful by the way) and they said the biggest thing to worry about is nipple confusion.
They said their research said that parents recommend Avent's nipple best...then Dr Browns.
I haven't started registering yet, but I've been happy with the books

I'm a first time mom, but I have heard great things about Tommee Tippee for moms who BF and bottle feed. I registered and received those bottles for my shower. I also registered and received the Medela pump if you're looking into pumps.

Re: Bottle recommendations for BF moms
It really will depend on your child.
I breastfed and bottle fed. DD had NO problem switching back and forth. It didnt matter which bottle/nipple. She accepted them all. I was lucky.
I wouldn't go crazy registering for too many bottles. You dont know what will work out.
I bought the medela 4 oz bottles to start(only a 2 pack). I figured they would be best for breast feeding. Then went from there.
