Moms of 2 -- desperate for stroller help/recommendations?

DH and I went today to BBB to look at new strollers and I wanted to bang my head against the wall Chat Icon Chat Icon

I used the Snap & Go stroller when DS was an infant for the infant carrier and when he got older used the Peg Perego stroller that I bought with his car seat. With baby #2 on the way I need to get a new stroller to accomodate a toddler and an infant carrier...but I want something I can use as the new baby gets bigger and doesnt need the car seat anymore.

I would prefer to not have to buy a new car seat...I have a Peg Perego but the side by side strollers I saw by Peg Perego were odd b/c 1 seat was wider than the other so I dont know how much use I would get out of it as the kids got older.

Here are the strollers the sales guy showed us:

This one he said was universal and can be used with my Peg Perego car seat.

I liked the Graco double strollers but they weight almost 50 lbs. I tried to pick it up and barely could it was so big. I would practically have to throw the thing in the back of my SUV.

I saw these one online thought they looked easy to fold up and light. I will have to check the stores.

Does anyone have any of these strollers? Do you like them them or not like them?

My mom doesnt understand why I can't just use the stroller I have. Chat Icon I said what am I supposed to do with DS...he is 2. He is not going to stay by my side. He likes to run around. I need a stroller that will hold him as well.

ETA: If you can post pictures of the strollers you have that would be helpful.

I just want to say I FEEL your pain and am in semi panic mode daily over what I will do with 3 kids under 2.5 and not many stroller options.

I am doing a TON of research and have a few of those strollers on my list. I will let you knwo what reviews etc as soon as I read more on it!

My friend's kids are 15 months apart. She has the red one (the 3rd one posted) and she likes it...no complaints. I don't really know how the whole infant seat hookup went with it though, sorry.

I just did research on it and they have a car seat attachment that fits most carseats on the market. I 'll have to find out if it works with mine.

My other question is, how old do kids usually sit in a stroller for? Chat Icon I want to make sure that I buy a stroller that will last me a couple of years.

Out of the four, I would definitely get the City Mini Double. I have the stroller and absolutely love it.

I have the Graco Quattro Duo and rarely used it. My oldest DS was 2 when his brother was born. The Quattro never really worked for me. My oldest DS was a big two year old and with him plus the car seat it was so heavy to push. I maybe used it a handful of times. The model was brand new when I purchased it (Early 2007) so no stores had it. I pushed myself to have a double stroller before DS#2 arrived and now wish I didn't. I have been trying to sell mine on Craigslist with little interest.

Next, I ended up getting a Joovy Ultralight Caboose which also worked for a while. This stroller eventually became useless since my oldest still naps which was not happening with this stroller. I ended up using my single Maclaren most of the time. Finally, I bought a City Mini Double since we have three vacations planned this year including Disney. I love this stroller. I think I'm finally done buying strollers. Chat Icon

I don't have any of those - but I didn't like the tandum ones. I felt bad for DS#1 since he had to sit in the back all the time.

I have a BOB Duallie Revolution - it's side by side and it is my favorite stroller.

Definately go for the City Mini.

Go give it a test drive at Buy Buy Baby and then order it online at Albee Baby.

The single City Jogger is $100 less than in the stores. I'm sure the double would be less too. They also have free shipping.

Re: Moms of 2 -- desperate for stroller help/recommendations?

IF I decide to get a double (which I still don't think I am) but, if I do, it'll be a BOB Jogger.

I actually thought it was 50 lbs, but I figured any would be. What I like is that I can make it a triple stroller with the toddler attachment ( which I need) and then when my son is no longer in a stroller in about a yr from when I get it., its a double again and it has gotten RAVE reviews everywhere and it can be used from birth on since it fully reclines.

Eta- How does it fold up? Compact? What kind of car/van do you have? Sorry to hijack thread Chat Icon

The graco one you posted is ridiculous. Me and my mom had my brothers 2 children in the graco double you posted and my dd in a single graco and seriously couldnt maneuver out of the restaurant. It was soooooo heavy and we had to get up 2 steps and down 2 more....it was horrible! The steering also sucked IMO. So in the end I gave my mom back their stroller to push and pushed my own dd in her single Chat Icon

Crissy - I am selling the double stroller that I bought off Mama Bargains. It retails for over 800 (I got the carrycot too for the baby) but paid 475. Looking to just make my money back!

Google it - it's the Easy Walker Duo. I love love love love love it!

Re: Moms of 2 -- desperate for stroller help/recommendations?

we got the sit n stand delux (DS was 25 months when DD was born) so I used the infant carrier with it in the begining. and now I just use the regular seat. and in a few more months with change the back seat to the stand part of the "sit n stand".

I struggled for weeks with this decision - but it worked out ok for us. plus its not too heavy and will fit in the back of my civic

My DC are 2 years apart too and I got the sit and stand. Worked great for us but we don't go to a lot of places where I would need a stroller for both of them.

Re: Moms of 2 -- desperate for stroller help/recommendations?

i got that exact city mini double you posted. it fits into the trunk of my civic, moves easily, folds easily too, good shade, & lots of storage. i like how i can use my infant carrier but it is kinda a pita to put on and off. the adapter bars make it clunkier and u have to slide it on and off. i'm still letting my dh handle that b/c i have no patience. also the seat doesn't sit completely up so josh has to sit up from the seat if he doesn't want to recline (we put a shirt by the headrest to keep it more upright for him.) it doesn't come with a lot of accesories you you end up spending a lot more on that stuff too. cost of stroller+carseat adapter+ rain cover+ belly vbar for toddler (which can't be used when you have the carseat adapter in)+ if you want a cup holdere=$$$.

all in all, i'd get it again, especially b/c of how crappy most double strollers are. i also hear great things about the bumbleride. it's $$ but comes with a lot more that my city mini did.

so how are you feeling???

Re: Moms of 2 -- desperate for stroller help/recommendations?

DH and I looked at the Graco double and I just didn't like it. If DD were in her seat, it seems like the infant carseat would be juggled in order for it to fit properly and all I could imagine was the baby being flipped so DD wouldn't get bopped in the head Chat Icon

From what I've seen, I like the sit n stands for price, keeping my original carseat and DD being able to sit in a stroller on stand like a big girl if she wants. We haven't actually purchased the double stroller just yet though as I'm still a little torn. But I think the sit n stand is going to be our choice

Re: Moms of 2 -- desperate for stroller help/recommendations?

My DS was so far a from a stroller baby and young toddler. The only way he would stay in his stroller was with toys and snacks. I never took him out of it though so he either screamed or was eating. Now at 3, I have the sit-n-stand and he wants to sit in the front and not the jumpseat so I put him there sometimes. DD is 22 months and sits fine in the back. He is actually pretty good in it.

Anyway the strollers you picked..

1.) Is good of he is a stroller kid now

2.) I had this one and I don't think it is 50lbs. For some reason I thought it was 30lbs. It is harder to lift now because you are PG but it really isn't that bad. I had a Peg infant carrier too so took DD in and out of the stroller so that was annoying. I did use this one for about 10 months then sold it. My first stroller was a Urban Mountain Buggy double. I wasn't a fan of it because it didn't really fold, the wheels just folded under and they didn't lock.

3.) Is actually closer to 50lbs and looks cumbersome. I do like the idea that you can change the seats around. I am not sure how it opens and closes and you if you need to take the seats out to close it, I would rethink this stroller. When you have a screaming toddler and all you want to do is get out this isn't gong to help.

4.) This seems like the best option out of the ones you posted. I see a lot of moms with 2 under 2 with this stroller.

Some other choices that I would look at is the Zooper tango. That takes the Peg infant carrier and is side-by-side. I really wanted this stroller but DH wasn't to happy with me buying it without seeing it in person. When DD was about 2 months old I saw someone in the mall with this stroller and stopped them. They were on their second one because they abused the stroller so much and her kids were 2 and 4 at the time. She raved about it.
Another one I see a lot of moms with in the Bumbleride Indie twin.

If you plan on taking walks, I really suggest getting something that has all terrain tires. The sit-n-stand really stinks for walks.

HTH!!
