Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
Just curious. Who's still using bottles, and who's fully transitioned to sippy cups for milk?
I'll start: DD is almost 14 months and still on bottles for milk; sippy cups for water. We tried milk in her sippy several times one day and she refused it, and we haven't tried since, although I guess we should keep trying. I'm not stressing about it though.

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
Not transitioned here! She uses bottles and sippys. I would like to get rid of the bottles but I'm afraid she won't get enough fluids from the sippy. She drinks like a pro from them one day - then only sips from them the next. She mostly drinks water from the sippys but on rare occasions she will drink milk. Next month we are flying and the ped said she was better with a bottle for take off and landing so I don't want to completely phase them out until after our trip.

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
All bottles at home until yesterday.
But we have used the sippy cup for water on playdates when it was hot outside.
He will drink it but not as well as the bottle. Sometimes he just takes a sip and that's it.
The bottle is also soothing to him. It's part of his comfort.
Yesterday I took his mid day bottle of 5oz and replaced it with the sippy. He was not sure at 1st but he loves milk so he was willing to put up with the sippy cup.
I will start with that mid-day bottle replaced by the sippy and then SLOWLY transition to the morning and evening bottle.

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
Troy is 15 mos, I had started to transition off the bottle then he got sick so I held off. He is in daycare 2 days a week and drinks out of a sippy cup there (milk & juice).
I started the transition again last night and this morning and it seemed to go well, but as a PP said, we too are flying next week and I don't want to totally eliminate the bottle.
I have a good friend who is a speech therapist and she highly recommends being off bottle and pacifier by 1 yr.

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
DS was 17 months when he was off the bottle completely. He used the bottle only for milk so it was only 2 bottles a day. I tried so many time to put milk in and he would just chuck it at me . One day I tried again and he took to it like it was nothing. After he drank that sippy I threw all my bottles away.
DD never took the bottle so it was BF and sippy.

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
DD is still on Next Step formula (ProSoBee) in her bottles, but soy milk or water in her sippies. I didn't want to transition her to milk in the bottles because I've heard how hard it is to get them to take the milk in the sippy later.
We're S L O W L Y lowering the amount she gets in her bottle and increasing her sippy intake. She still gets 3 bottles a day (one before each nap/sleep), which is down from her previous 5 a day.

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
DD is almost 14 months.
She has 1 bottle in the morning right after she wakes up. I give her about 10 oz. and sometimes she finishes it, sometimes she doesn't.
Other than that, she gets sippy cups with water throughout the day, and I give her Take & Toss cups with milk at mealtimes. She doesn't take much from them, though. (but she wasn't taking much from the bottle, either, so that's why I eliminated her afternoon bottle)
I am holding on to the morning bottle bc it's the only way she really gets much milk - but I've been noticing in the last few days that she's finishing less and less. The bottle is definitely NOT a comfort thing for her, so maybe I should just try to get rid of it now? But then her milk-intake will go way down (and it's already at a minimum). Ugh, I dunno - parenting is hard.

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
I has DS on bottles until he was 2 for this exact reason. If/when I have #2 I will start putting formula in the cup every so often much earlier. I saw nothing wrong with DS having a bottle until 2. Now he drinks no milk, just what he gets in cereal and then he gets calcium from other sources.

DS is 15 months and I could have written the samw exact post--he loves his bottles and I dont know how to transition without him throwing a major fit

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
DS is 12 1/2 months, he has 4 milk bottles a day and drinks water/juice in a cup. He is not ready to give up the bottle, but i will probably start to cut out the 2 day time ones in a month or 2, then gradually the night/morning time bottles.

Re: Bottle/Sippy poll for the recently-turned-1-year-olds
DS is 14 mths old too and still on bottles for milk and sippys for anything else.
He's been sick, so I have not given him milk in a few days, so I'm gonna try giving it to him in a sippy and get him off the bottle.
DD was off the bottle at 14 1/2 mths too when she had the 24 hr stomach bug
