Replacing bottle w/sippy cups...how in the world did you do it?
Hi - Julia will be 12 months and although the doctor didn't seem like it was an urgent factor - we did talk about replacing her afternoon bottle with a sippy cup and slowly transitioning to sippy's.
Well - i tried it for a few days with her afternoon bottle - and Julia kept tossing the sippy across the floor when she realized that milk was inside.
I even bought the nuby ? sippy cups - they are supposed to be more gentle to the mouth and she hates them = she won't even drink water out of them.
Im just wondering - when really is the appropriate age for starting to remove a bottle - and when should toddlers be completely transitioned to cups (sippy).
appreciate your advice and suggestions.
p.s. just wanted to add that julia loves her sippy cup with juice or water - just not milk in it.

We just did it cold turkey around her 1st birthday and had no issues so I'm not much help. Miranda wasn't very attached to her bottle so I guess we got lucky. I know my friend is just having her daughter go on a milk strike because she is almost two and still only takes milk from a bottle. She has taken the bottle away cold turkey and figures when her daughter really wants the milk she'll take it from the sippy. I don't think you're at that point yet since Julia is still young. I would say to just keep trying, that's all you can do.

I have carried bloody sippy cups around with me for the last six freaking months! I gave one to him everyday and it took about 3/4 months for him to start drinking from one...just give one to her to play with everyday and she will get it soon enough!!

try with water or watered down juice. Alyson played with it for MONTHS before actually drinking from it.

Sydney loves her sippy cup with water but would not drink it with milk. She eats a lot of food so we decided to give her the bottle in the am and at night but during the day if she wants milk she can only have it out of the sippy cup. At daycare she will drink 5 ozs of milk out of the sippy when she realizes that there is no bottle coming. She still fights me on it but I am not giving in.
