Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
At what age should you do this? My DS is 13 going on 14 months.
He uses the sippy but he really likes his morning, night and possibly mid-afternoon bottle. I have tried to give him morning milk in a sippy and he was VERY upset. Apparently the sippy cup is just for juice (according to him).
Suggestions. Do they just start using the sippy themselves one day and no bottle?

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
I want to start weaning Ava off the bottle soon (she is 10 months old), but we are going to do it slowly, which is why I'm starting soon. I think every baby is different, but Ava hates formula or anything other than water out of the sippy cup, so we definitely have to get her used to the idea. I don't know how it's going to work, so I am interested to hear other people's experiences, as well.

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
My DD is 11 months and we are weaning from both formula and the bottle at the same time. I have started to give her regular milk with her lunch and dinner in a sippy and she seems to be going to nap or bed fine without the bottle, so we will see. I hope by mid-may to be on whole milk and no bottles.

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
we were down to 2 bottles a day before 1 year old, and completely done with bottles at 14 1/2 months old. When she got hit with the stomach bug I was giving her pedialyte and powerade in sippy cups and she didn't seem to miss the bottle.....
I refused to go back once we got her back to drinking milk!

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
DS just turned 10 months and is completely off the bottle. He did it on his own. I noticed that he would just play with the nipple on the bottle and not really drink from it. So I tried the sippy cup and he has been going strong ever since. That was about 3 weeks ago.

By 12 months Jack was off the bottle. I started introducing a sippy cup at 6 month.

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
Jacob is going to be 16 months soon and he still has a morning, afternoon, and night bottle. All day he drinks from the sippy cup. I honestly never tried taking the bottle away, so I'm not sure if it would even be a problem. But, for me, he is still my baby, so I dont see any reason to take it away just yet. Thats just me though.. he was never attached to the bottle or paci EVER! So hopefully when the time comes it wont be an issue.

I started this a month ago. At 12 months (in 1 week) we barely use a bottle. I even got rid of all but 4!!

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
Yeah, like Jacob, Noah is still having 3 milks a day and he couldn't care less if they were in a bucket. He just drinks it. He mostly drinks from a sippy cup, but I do bring a bottle for him for his bedtime drink. Its probably for myself more for him.
Personally I would just give him a cup. If the kid wants milk, they will drink it from a cup!! Easy as that!!!

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
It took a little maneuvering to get Cameron drinking from a cup only. She wa fine with water but when I tried to give her milk in a cup she wouldn' drink it. What I wound up doing was giving her some of her bottle and then putting the last few ounces in the cup. Eventually we weaned her off completey at around 13.5 months. It took about two weeks or so.

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
i started using the sippy cup early, but only for water with meals. at 12 months i switched him from formula to milk so i figured i'd let him get used to that change first before taking away the bottle. in the past week he started sucking so hard on the nipples that the nipples would collapse and get sucked into the bottle every time. so now i only give him a sippy , but he's not drinking as much as he did with the bottle. when i try to give him the cup he shakes his head no and days baba. but eventually he drinks it and he's slowly been taking more from the sippy. he's also been eating like crazy i guess since he's not getting as much milk.

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
Luckily, Ryan took VERY easy to switching and never missed his bottle at all. I stopped the bottle at about 10-11 months and he went solely to the Nuby cup.

Re: Stoping the Bottle and only using the sippy cup???
Sara is almost 14 months and she takes only one bottle at night . I dont even give her the bottle everynight - its only if she doesnt drink alot of milk throughout the day.
