Boy potty training poll

I know this has been done before but I can't find it.

So, do you train sitting down or standing up?

We've been doing it sitting down but DH thinks this is sissy!Chat Icon

And, if you did it sitting down, when and how did you transition to standing up?

does he make a huge mess or is he pretty good?

My problem is DS is so little. His peesh doesn't even reach the bowl.

Do you get a training toilet and put it on the floor?

Re: Boy potty training poll

We started with sitting- b/c that was how they were doing it at daycare and we wanted to be consistent. But then he saw daddy standing- and all he wants to do is stand. He's been trained for a while now, but I'd say he sat for MAYBE a month then started standing.

DS still mostly sits, but he will stand at public bathrooms.

Re: Boy potty training poll

I answered sitting down but we didn't really train - we tried and it didn't work so we just waited until he was ready. He woke up one morning, said he was ready, he peed sitting down and he was fully trained. About two weeks later he started going standing up (after watching daddy a lot Chat Icon ).

My Dh thought the same thingChat Icon when my oldest son was learning to pee on the potty sitting down. After he got the hang of it sitting down (a few weeks), Dh showed him how to pee standing up and he hasn't peed sitting down since. I just think it's easier to teach them sitting down and then when they're good with that then transition it to standing up.
