BPA free microwave sterilizer

I'm confused about some of the BPA free bottle stuff. For DD we used Dr. Brown's bottles in the microwave sterilizer and dishwasher. When all of the BPA stuff really hit the news, we switched to regular Avent bottles, but only handwashed (we were passed the point where we needed to sterilize).

Now we're expecting again, and we've decided to go the BPA free route so we can throw the bottles in the dishwasher (any time savers with 2 under 2 we're taking).

My question is, do I really need to get the Avent BPA free microwave sterilizer if I already have the old Avent microwave sterilizer that I used maybe twice? Obviously DC won't be chewing on or drinking out of the sterilizer itself, so I don't know why it is necessary.

TIA.

Is Avent BPA free?

I use Medela bottles that came with the pump and purchased some additional ones separately. They are BPA free. I also use Born Free bottles and the sterilizer.

I used to have the Avent sterilizer but stopped using it bc I thought it wasn't BPA free.

Re: BPA free microwave sterilizer

Avent is not BPA free.

IMO don't even bother with the sterilizers... Throw some water in a pot, set it to boil, let it get to a rolling boil, and throw everything in for 3 to 5 minutes!

Done - all sterile... until you take it out of the boiling water that is.
