Brangelina gossip
I was reading a celeb gossip thread on LIW NWR and apparantly Hilton Perez is saying that Angie had a c-section b/c she has herpes and doesn't want to pass it to the baby. And that when Brad came home with STDs, that's how Jen knew he was cheating on her.
Apparantly several other Hollywood moms have it (Madonna, Jen Garner, and Katie Holmes) and that's why so many have c-sections. It's the "trendy" disease to have, it's supposedly all over Hollywood.
Do you think it's true? That's so gross.

If that is true, that is just wrong on so many levels.
ETA: I am referring the the "trendy" part of the article.

Re: Brangelina gossip
Herpes has been around forever and there are many ways to get it. It isn;t a "celebrity" disease and so many women have it and don't even realize it. And even more men carry it without even knowing it.
The only reason a woman would have to have a c-section is if she has a flare up, which would most likely be prevented by your OB ahead of time.
Please do not judge people with herpes - there are probably a lot more people affected than you realize. Not by any fault of their own.

ditto.
to me, thats like saying "Ewwwww" to Aids or CAncer...... something that you cant necassarily prevent all the time.
And if it IS true its because if you have an outbreak at the time of birth the baby can be born deaf.
i dont see whats the problem with them taking all necassary precautions.

I'm not judging people who have it, I know it happens. I think it's gross to use it as a status symbol, and for people to think it's "cool" because their favorite celeb has it. JMO.

about the herpes
I doubt she had a c/s for that reason though.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if all those women named have herpes.

I can't imagine anyone would be stupid enough to think herpes is cool because a celebrity has it. That's like saying AIDS is cool because Magic Johnson has it.
I do think it would be cool for the prevalence of any disease to be highlighted so it doesn't carry such a stigma with it. The more education on STDs, the better. No clue on the C-section/herpes connection - but would have to agree with kara that if a mom was having an outbreak only would they need a C/S
Also on the celebrity note, Brad Pitt is in his 30s & has been an actor since his early 20s. If he has herpes, I'm sure he had it well before Angelina.

Re: Brangelina gossip
That has to be one of the most ridiculous rumours I have heard. Even if these women have herpes how can they say that they are using it as a status symbol? I haven't see any of them wearing a shirt that says "Be happy, get herpes" for the world to see and follow.

Re: Brangelina gossip
Well, if it is considered a "status" thing that that's the media making it so. I can't imagine anyone who has such a thing thinking it's cool. Just like adopting and having kids- celebs are people too, I am sure many are more normal than we think and just want to have kids.

This is a fact because I personally had to discuss it with my OB last year when I was pg. Yes, my dear ex gave me herpes and it took me years to realize it. To this day he denies it - because he doesn't have any symptoms. Actually I only found out because when I went for a regular gyn exam, I happened to have a tiny pimple-like thing in that area which was itchy. I thought it was a zit but asked my gyn to look anyway. That was the end of that delusion. I had felt the same thing before, just once in a blue moon, and didn't think anything of it. I probably only have a break out once a year at most.
While going through IVF my RE has had me on certain antibiotics to prevent an outbreak. This would be done as well starting 1-2 months before my due date ( ) so that a c-section would not be called for.
Maybe it isn't more "popular" these days, just that people are more willing to talk about these things to spread awareness and knowledge.

I personally refuse to judge anyone or even to pass any remarks because I do not know the truth about this rumour. It is none of my business. I wonder how the heck some people knows so much about people's lives.

Re: Brangelina gossip
karan i feel your pain.
i was always prone to cold sores.... and one day when i had one i was genius enough to change my "special" piercing wihtout washing my hands first.
needless to say i transferred it from my mouth to the other spot.....
ive only had two break outs in my life THANKFULLY and have been clear for a few years [knock on wood]..........
so its alittle upsetting to see people being like "ewwwwwwwwww thats SO gross" and stuff....i guess people dont think.
or when people say its "trendy" ..... w.t.f is THAT?! its definatly NOT a trend.... a trend that lasts forever! a painful, embarrassing, uncurable trend huh? yeah im sure of it.
yes it sux to have, but it is not "gross" at all actually. and it doesnt make you a s.l.u.t. if you have it...... as manuy people have that association.
and if these celebs DO have it... its not a laughing matter. its serious. your baby could be born deaf. or if you have a breakout at the time you can pass it. i think youd have a c-section too if that were the case. i dont think youd be saying it was a 'status' thing.
so, Kara, i guess we're SOOOOO COOL! we're just like the celebrities!

Based on what I'd read it was stated that it's the "trendy" disease to have in Hollywood, and I was wondering if anyone really thought that people, especially young people, would believe that it's "cool" to have. I guess I didn't word it well, I was just in shock that anyone would think that any disease is trendy.

That has got to be the most rediculous, insulting piece of "gossip" I've heard. "Trendy" new disease???
Lot's of women have c-sections...Hollywood women are no different. Whether it be for complications, schedules, whatever - it's personal. Whoever is spreading this garbage is an a-hole.

Well, I could believe that Angelina and Madonna have it, but not Jennifer Garner and Katie Holmes (although I wouldn't doubt that Tombo gave her something gross...I just don't think it's herpes. Probably something more like alien juices).
