So I emailed Braverman's office a week ago and explained my situation, wondering if there's anything he could do for me. Just feeling so hopeless.. I actually told my brother that having one DC may be it for me at this point. Just then I see my phone buzz. I had a vm.. Checked it. It was Dr. B himself talking about my case and explaining the huge link between endo and implantation failure. Basically pointing out that this was a legit situation, not something 'crazy' like the other two RE's I saw thought. This made me feel so comforted instantly! I think I may schedule the consult with him just to hear him out. Ugh I really don't want to pay such big $$! Hoping he is worth it.

Just like all other REs... Those who love Dr B are typically those who have had success with him, I know others who don't like him... and I know he has super long wait times in his Woodbury office.
If he gets you your take home baby, then it's worth it. Hear him out, he will definitely at least give you some ideas to bring back to your RE at the very least.

He funny I emailed him a week ago and he left me a VM today too. He seemed nice on the VM and said there was additional testing I could do. I just had lots of BW, a hysterscopy, and an Endo biopsy with my RE so I'm gonna wait to see if anything turns up. If this FET doesn't work then I'll be going to Braverman for a consult. I don't think I could have him for my doctor bc I would have to leave his office by 7:15 to get to work and I have heard his monitoring starts later and there is a long wait. Theres no being late at my job. SO I think he would be good to talk to and get additional testing with but thats probably all I could do. He takes my OON benefits but I bet that will still cost a good amount and I have already spent so much on IF. Scheduling a consult might give you further info to help you form a plan. GL

i agree too. he is the best. all of the care and decisions are made by him. it is pretty much the opposite of everything i have heard about the larger practices. you ONLY deal with him and a few nurses. he calls all of the shots. your protocol and care are 100% completely customized to your needs. there is no cookie cutter approach at all.
i know i have said this before on your posts but with your history you would really be doing a disservice to not see him, and not deal directly on clotting and immune issues. his approach may not be accepted by many doctors, but thats only because its ground breaking. aside from that he is one of the nicest most caring people you will ever meet. i wont think twice about seeing him again next time around.

He is not cheap, but the testing is thorough, he offered a unique protocol, and I am now 9 weeks pregnant from my second cycle with him.

It's a shame he charges so much. Just for a consultation I was told it was $900 when I called the office.

I didnt have any problems with wait times. I was with him for an intense year. To the OP, if you can find a way to make it work, do it!

That does seem like a lot. But I don't think its a shame. Unfortunately, I've learned that everything dealing with IF is expensive. That $900 is also one Follistim pen, almost two vials of Neupogen, etc. That $900 is worth it.
I've been with Dr.B for four years and more cycles that I would like to admit. At one point, I asked for my records, sought out four other opinions and came back. He's worth it.
If you have any other questions feel free to Fm me.

when i saw him many moons ago he used to take all insurance. totally just my opinion but i think he ended up fairly bogged down with basic cases of IUIs and people who were more impatient than infertile.
to the OP - as great as he is, he is a man with a specialty. recurrent loss and immune rejection of pregnancy. your case unfortunately appears to be beyond basic and that's what he's there for. if you can make it work you can go to SIRM too, i think they take more insurances than dr. B, although i still think you can't beat dr. B from a bedside perspective (although i am admittedly biased since ive never worked with SIRM, just met Dr. T in passing a few times since i went there regularly for acu).
just my opinion but all that being said, seeing one of two practices in the area that specialize in your issues is more than worth it if you compare it to having to go through another loss. even having the option to see a doctor with a specialty like this is such a gift for us in Long Island and NYC. it sucks to be in this situation to begin with, but having someone who can treat it is a true miracle; and i really believe they can help you get your miracle as well. good luck!

Re: Braverman
I saw 3 other doctors before ending up at Dr Bs office and I paid out of pocket to see him. After being off the pill for almost 8 years, numerous iuis, and 3 ivfs with other doctors I still had no answers to why I could not get pregnant. I saw Dr Braverman in June of 2010 and conceived my son in May of 2011. He found out why I could not get pregnant and treated the problem. I loved his office, the staff and one on one care by him. Yes it was expensive however I have a son and a daughter I conceived naturally 8months after having my son. I will never forget the tears I cried at night thinking I would never have a baby. The emotional roller coaster my husband and I went on and then Dr Braverman made our dreams come true.

I had the same reaction when he first called me. I had a vastly different experience than a bunch of the girls here.
I will tell you he is not the end all so if you do go for the consult and do not feel great don't think it is the only way to go.

My experience was also very different from the other girls. I'm so happy for them if they were successful with him, but I'm honestly still reeling from my experience a year later.

I heard this about Braverman and Kofinas. Two of my friends had negative experiences with these drs. I'm not putting these drs down and those that have used and been successful that's great but just be careful. What works for one May not work for the other.

So I called Dr. Braverman's office today to get some info. I have GHI and I think you might also- Lilies. So its 900 for the consult without insurance. If you haven't met your Out Of Network Deductible then you will have to pay the remainder. The lady said they would have to verify my specific insurance and the insurance person wasn't there. Her example was if my deductible is 1000 then I still have to pay the 900. If my deductible is 500 then I'll pay 400. I still can't believe its 900 for someone OOP and most likely me even with OON benefits. I asked about how much the immune testing. She said the testing is tailored to the person and can't give me an amount now. She said they would get me the price from Reprosource when the BW was ordered. I asked about the consult. He does them on Tues, Thurs, and Sat. The Weekdays are until like 2:30 so that wouldn't work for me. Its good he has Saturday though. They are booking appointments for mid to end of December now. OH and I asked- his monitoring starts at 9am!!! So basically anyone with a day job would have issues with this and work. I have to be in Queens and teaching by 8am so this would never work for me. In my job there is not an option of being late- either you call in sick and get your own sub or you come. While I would like to meet with him and pick his brain I could never actually use him unless it was the summer. I did not make an appointment. I hope this info helps.

I am a teacher in queens also and have GHI also. He got me my DD with my first IVF (he took insurance then) and I got my BFP last week from my second IVF cycle with him. Although it was costly and annoying since I have coverage, I will never go to anyone but Dr. Braverman. I always went for monitoring in the afternoon. I was always driving like a mad woman to make an appt and always begged for the latest appt. lol...If I needed morning bloodwork, I would just go to the lab and have it sent over STAT. It works out!

Re: Braverman
When I needed to, I did the same. I'd go to a lab closest to me or work that opened early then would go for monitoring if needed after school.

So how much did it cost you with GHI OON benefits? How does the OON work? Whats our deductible? When the lady said $900 for a consult I was pretty shocked. I teach in Queens too. What is the latest appointment in the afternoon they do for monitoring? So did you do all your BW at quest and then just go to him in the afternoon? I just ask bc during my last IVF cycle I was in my REs office so many days in the early AM and made it to work on time. How much did IVF cost with him using GHI? If you don't wanna write the prices on here please FM me. Just trying to figure this out and next steps bc we spent 5K last month on IVF even with insurance since we had to add in ICSI and assisted hatching. Thanks!
