Upset with my RE already.... Also, Question about Dr. Braverman?
So.... when I first met with Dr. Roman, he said that he would put me down for Saturdays (monitoring)... then today when I called, they said that I cant do it on Saturday....I left a message for Dr. Roman and I guess the receptionist called me back and told me that I still cant.
Then, I try to make an appointment with Dr. Roman to find out what our game plan for this month will be and to go over DH's sperm analysis and they said the only day open was May 25!!!! May 25th????? Then the lady said "He's the most popular doctor here"... well now I guess he really ISN'T my doctor if I can never see him
I made an appt to meet with someone else next week. Im so disappointed. I feel like I go to an RE, but yet I feel alone. I thought Dr. Roman was going to be my doctor and monitor me.... now I realized that whoever is on shift that day is going to monitor me and give me their opinion.
I went with RS of NY because they were close to me and I heard he was a good doctor...but hes not even involved with me
I feel like if I dont get preggo this month with whoever is "on call" ... Im going to go someplace else. Is it difficult to switch RE doctors?
Does Dr. Braverman see you guys? Or is it whoever is there? Are you able to get in contact with him and make appts with him??

That is one of the problems with RSofNY - you don't know who you are going to see. I also found that the plan changed depending on who I saw.
So far with Dr. Braverman, I've seen him every single time I've gone in there. The protocol hasn't deviated from what he explained and I feel much more confident.

i dr. b!! he sees you everytime you are there for anything other than just bloodwork. he does all of the monitoring and sonos (once in a blue moon if he's out unexpectedly one his nurses do it but they are amazing as well - also i have been seeing him for about 6months and only once did he not do my monitoring). i would highly recommend him specifically if u are looking for an RE with great bedside manner and someone who will not treat you like a number. he really is amazing.

Re: Upset with my RE already.... Also, Question about Dr. Braverman?
Thank you for understanding I am going to make the switch tomorrow. I don't want to be just a number... I want to feel like my doctor cares about me. I cant wait to meet him and I hope we can get a plan set into place tomorrow. Im afraid hes going to tell me I need to get re-tested again this month and go through another un-medicated cycle. I hope that I can get copies of the tests I've already taken and move forward.

Good luck with the switch. I would ask the nurses for copies of your records so when you go meet with Dr. B you can have them. I have heard lots of girls say wonderful things about him. I see a different RE, but everyone deserves someone they are comfortable with. I agree with you. If my re wasnt open on Sat and Sunday, i dont think i would stay with them either. Its hard enough to be talking infertility and then get told.. we cant fit you in....
Again, good luck with the switch

I never had a problem with RSofNY, they always say me but my dr was Dr. lydic, and if he wasnt in they would always get another dr to see you.

Re: Upset with my RE already.... Also, Question about Dr. Braverman?
Yes, I was going to the one in Mineola. They are all nice there and Im sure they are good doctors, but I just didnt like that I was going to see whichever doctor was on call. I wanted to see only one doctor each and every time. It just wasnt for me b/c I felt like I was just number there and I want to have one doctor with one game plan.

Re: Upset with my RE already.... Also, Question about Dr. Braverman?
I go to RS of NY but I go to West Islip and sometimes Stonybrook. I'm not sure why they told you that you couldn't have a Saturday monitoring appointment. As far as I understood Mineola and Stonybrook are open on the weekend. Sundays are generally reserved for procedures (i.e. IUI, ER) and time sensitive appointments. Maybe the Saturday you were asking for didn't fall on the day they needed to see you (i.e. CD3)?
Dr. SanRoman is very hard to get an appointment with. He's my doctor too and after my last failed IUI I wanted to set up another consultation appointment with him. They couldn't give me an appointment for about 4 weeks. I was VERY frustrated. So I just made sure that one of the monitoring appointments of my new cycle fell on a Monday (his day in the West Islip office.) I turned it into a mini consultation.
The way things work at RS of NY can definitely get frustrating at times. I've definitely toyed with changing doctors. I'd love to see Dr. Braverman, but he is way too far from me.

Re: Upset with my RE already.... Also, Question about Dr. Braverman?
I too go to RSofNy in Mineola but i've never had an issue myself with seeing different dr's. I see Dr. Trivax and anytime i've had a question or needed a consult, he's been available. He makes good notes that are in my chart so that if there's ever a question about what route to follow, his recommendations are listed there.
Yes, i have seen other dr's there, but most of the time i'm in there for bloodwork and sono and don't need to see the dr anyway. The only time i see a dr is if the cycle fails - most of the time the nurses are the ones who do everything else
Of course, you want to be happy with who you have as an RE, so if you're unhappy with this office, you should switch. I know that for me personally, i'm ok with not seeing the dr at each visit because i know i'm being monitored by other competent professionals. I've always found them to be very accommodating with appointments as well.
good luck!

Re: Upset with my RE already.... Also, Question about Dr. Braverman?
I go to RSONY as well. I started with STtelling, but I see whoever is in that day. They have ALWAYS been aware of my chart and what the game plan was. They also consult each other once a week on all patients. I mainly go to the west islip office for bloodwork and sonos, but all procedures are in mineola. If i need bloodwork on a weekend day, I can go to stonybrook or mineola, both are open. It's great to see all of the dr's b/c they each do the procedures. It's better to know each of them.

Re: Upset with my RE already.... Also, Question about Dr. Braverman?
Just an FYI, that is how most of these clinics work. Though your RE should be the one reviewing your file and making your decisions on your cycle based on your b/w and u/s results. Dr. B is probably one of the only few, if not the only one, that I can think of where you really do get that personal attention and only see him. But, his monitoring hours are not early morning like other places, they are throughout the day. Which could be difficult too. No happy medium. But, you need to go where you feel comfortable and happy. And it doesn't sound like you have that there. That is where I started out too and I had the same feeling and moved on. And even though I am now at the hugest clinic (Cornell) and I never see my RE, I do see an RE every time I go for monitoring and they are available if I have questions. But, I also feel that I'm in good hands no matter who sees me in the morning (I knew of all the RE's even before I started there). And i know my Doc makes all my decisions. And is available via phone or e:mail anytime I need him. Good luck.

Re: Upset with my RE already.... Also, Question about Dr. Braverman?
I went to RSofNY and was successful after 10 IUI's. San Roman was my doctor...we went to the Stonybrook office. While we hardly saw Dr. San Roman - I liked all of the doctor's there. We mainly didn't see Dr. San Roman because our appointments were very early (at 6:30am) so I could get to work on time. I will tell you though that each time I wanted to meet with Dr. San Roman about our "game plan" I was able to get an appointment fairly right away. I also had surgery because I had a blocked tube and requested him to do the surgery and he did. He had canceled an appointment so that he could do my surgery. I really liked him. Stelling did our last IUI that actually took and we liked him too although he is a fast talker! Like I said I think the main reason we did not see San Roman was that our appointments were so early. All of the doctors were great and I know three other girls that I am friends with that were successful thanks to him. I always got an appointment when needed at the Stonybrook office. A couple of times I did have to go to the West Islip office to meet with San Roman but I didn't mind making the trip..that was before and after my surgery.
