bread without sugar??
I'm trying to keep an eye on dh's sugar intake. in trying to buy bread this week i noticed all the bread has at least 2 g of sugar per slice! the lowest i found was 2 g for the arnold flats (the whole thing).
anyone know if there is whole grain bread with no sugar??

Re: bread without sugar??
I think you need sugar for the yeast. Not sure what you can find.

Check out Matthew's or Vermont Bread Company. They may have 2 grams of sugar per slice, but it's not from refined sugar; there's no high fructose corn syrup.

Re: bread without sugar??
By definition, bread has sugar.... it's a carbohydrate, which converts to sugar. You can get bread with lower carbs, but not without *any* sugar.
Basically, the healthy foods have sugar (fruit, grains, vegetables), but meat, fat, protein, and chemicals can have no, or minimal, sugar.... ironic, huh.... Very frustrating for us diabetics....

This!
And it is more important to look at the total carbohydrates than the sugar. I believe rye bread also has less "sugar"

Re: bread without sugar??
I've been eating the Ezekial bread, for the lower carb intake. It took some getting used to, but now it's just fine. I was only able to find it at Trader Joe's.

They also have it in Stop and Shop in the Organic Frozen section.
