Breaking Amish
So I was enjoying this show and when I googled it I was blown away! Is it ALL fake WT F?? Anyone else watch this and see all the pics floating around of these people before the show?!

I read that it wasntnall fake, but that one of them misled the producers because they had already left the Amish community- Jeremiah did say on camera that he had been kicked out of the Amish community 3 times before this last time...

Yeah, once I found out that Rebecca and Abe have a child together, and Jerimiah is 32, divorced with 3 kids and they ALL have been out of the Amish community for years, I couldn't watch it anymore.
eta- it was pretty entertaining watching them experience "real life" for the first time (under the assumption it really was their first time like the show says), but then I started noticing things not adding up. It is a good concept for a show though.

TLC had issued a statement saying there were a lot of rumors going around, most of it isn't true but that some of it is. That FB page is pretty damning though!

I was just watching this the other night, and saying how I thought the whole thing seemed fake... I don't think actual Amish people would even want to be on camera on a show like that.

I stopped watching. All the pictures I saw where enough for me. I believe the rumors. Things on the show always seemed strange to me even before I heard the rumors.

I'm still gonna watch it. All reality tv has some fakeness to it. Some of them might have left their communities and came back but they are still leaving their lives that they know. They showed them in their houses with the no electricity, gas lights etc. I wouldn't say the entire thing is made up. Kates DUI was discussed on the show and jeremiah also said on camera that he was kcked out of the amish community 3 times prior to this. That baby looked very young too, and I'm sure they've been filming for a while so who knows. I still think it's an interesting concept show

So funny you posted this becase I was watching the episode last night where Rebecca and Abe go on a date to the chinese restaurant and it was their "first time eating chinese" but I found it very odd that Rebecca was a pro with the chopsticks

I just posted about this show on FB. Last night was my first time seeing it. I thought it was odd that of all the places to go in NY, the 32yr old was taking driving lessons in my neighborhood. LOL.
If it's all fake, they are some d@mn good actors because they are ALL so friggin awkward.

I LOVED that they wanted a mexican place and they didnt "realize" it was chinese until they were ordering?  really?

WOW!!! I have been watching this show and think Kate is batshit crazy and Jerimiah is a jerk. BUT now seeing how these people aren't really in the community at all for YEARS is just annoying. THANKS TLC

I missed this post the first time around but I've been reading all this and find it really stupid. I believe everything they're saying about the characters. They have pictures of Sabrina at her non-Mennonite wedding. Rebecca was already married to another X-Amish guy and left him for Abe, who she has a baby with. Jeremiah has multiple charges against him for domestic violence against his ex wife. Kate seems to be the only non-shocking one since she came clean with all her "dirt" from the beginning.
I don't know why TLC bothered with this show. I knew something was off from the beginning. As soon as they showed Rebecca's hair with 3 inches of roots growing in I knew she couldn't have just left the Amish. Kate even says on the show that they aren't allowed to dye their hair, but Rebecca clearly has and they continue to try to play it off. I still watch it, but in an  way now. I'm just curious to see how far they'll go to push the blatant lies.

That's pretty disappointing. I thought they were too old to be "out" of the commnity. Plus they strike me as Mennonite rather than Amish.
