Breast fed baby and gas
Dd is almost 6 weeks old and I breast feed (occasionally she gets a bottle but its breast milk). Wednesday evening I noticed she was very gassy..she would wiggle around and when I was holding her I could hear her tummy and feel gas bubbles plus she was farthing a lot. I gave her my little Tummys and also gripe water throughout the day yesterday but notice she's still gassy and uncomfortable. is there anything else I can do for her? Any ideas on how to prevent this? I assume its from something I are but can't figure out what I've eaten wed and thurs that would continue to give her gas...I would think its all out of my system by now. Apple juice and m&m are the only thing I ate both days but Ivd had the before and we didn't have a gas problem. Would something I ate Wednesday cause gas to last so long? Yesterday she didn't sleep much bc of it but she's still eating well and no fever

Re: Breast fed baby and gas
Honestly i went thru the same thing and even though I'm avoiding dairy, I don't think my food intake makes a difference. Once dd hit 8-10 weeks, her system matured more amd we have a different baby.

Re: Breast fed baby and gas
We had HORRIBLE gas from weeks 3-8 or 9. I stopped eating all 'gaseous' foods like beans, broccoli, etc. We were giving gas drops which helped a lot. Each time you change the diaper, move the legs like a reverse crunch to get some of the farts out. Stop frequently during feeding to burp.
We also used Dr. Browns bottles when bottle feeding, but mostly I was breast feeding.
All in all, I'm not sure these remedies did too much but she does seem a lot better over the last 3-4 weeks, so I think she had to just grow out of it. I've started even eating some gaseous foods without the same problems we were having before.

Re: Breast fed baby and gas
Ds is 6 weeks and has just been a gassy kid. I really don't eat much that would effect him but I have limited my cows milk not diary just milk and it didn't seem to help much. I give him lots of tummy time which helps with gas and I also work his legs ( like a bicycle) He has learned to tolerate it much better the older he gets. I would say if she isn't incredibly uncomfortable I would let her work it out on her own.
