Breast Pump covered by Insurance!

Hi Ladies! I had seen this post on here before about getting a breast pump from Edgepark Medical supplies, and it being covered either in whole or partial by your insurance company.
So, I just wanted to let you all know that I called the company, they verified with my insurance company and I just received my breast pump, covered 100% by my insurance! No hassles whatsoever!
Just wanted to pass along the possible savings!

Here is the website, call because you just never know! Edgepark Medical

BTW - I have Empire BlueCross Blue Shield PPO, and it was covered 100%. I did see someone on here get it covered with a co-pay of $50 (which is still good!) Also, you can only choose what they have in stock, they don't carry Medela :( , but I got the Ameda pump and it looks like it will work out great!

They do carry Medela - the Freestyle 100% for sure they carry, and I believe the PISA also.

Very interesting!! When I called to order, the rep said they only had whatever was listed on the website and medela was not there! Chat Icon Chat Icon
Maybe they were just out of stock? So sad I missed out! But thanks for the update!

Re: Breast Pump covered by Insurance!

I also got my Breast Pump Covered by Insurance and only had to pay a $24 copay which is nothing compaired to having a $350+ pump covered.

They asked me what pump I wanted and I told them "I've heard good things about the Medela Pump In Style." They ended up calling back 2 days later and said that insurance approved the Pump In Style Advance Metro Bag .... so I'm super happy with that, it's a great pump and it has the let-down mode which is supposed to help a lot.

I have an old pump that is 6.5 years old from my first DD that got lent out to everyone under the sun --- my sister, best friend and a coworker all used it (with new tubing/accessories of course) -- I was debating re-using it myself but the cost of getting all of the new supplies (which I would have had to order from medela directly since it's an older pump) was higher then just getting a new one through insurance. And this new pump is more powerful so I am hoping to have good results with it!

Re: Breast Pump covered by Insurance!

I just received mine yesterday and it was 100% covered by my insurance. They do have the medala bc that's what I picked.

Even though many people with similar insurance have said it wasn't covered, call anyway. Each plan is different!

I havve bluecross blueshield too but they are not contracted with edgepark Chat Icon

I had to call at least 12 vendors they are contracted with until I found one that carries breast pumps AND has the medela brand. I have to wait until the baby is born though but it is covered 100% Chat Icon

You have 30 days to return it to EdgePark, assuming it hasn't been opened at all. Chat Icon

Edge Park definitely accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield - at least they do accept Empire BCBS. Did you call Edge Park directly or your insurance company?

It depends on your individual plan. Everyone is different.

yeah, apparently every plan is different grrr! I called edgepark and after a few days they called me saying that I have to call the insurance company for vendors they are contracted with. I guess it's whatever deal my company has with them.

It was a pain going through the medical supplier list they sent me...most didn't even carry breast pumps Chat Icon

Yes every plan is different, but I was just pointing out that Edge Park DOES accept BCBS. Now whether your particular BCBS plan covers the breast pump is a totally different story Chat Icon

Does anyone know if MVP insurance covers the breast pump? I placed my order with Edge park on Friday and have yet to hear from them.

So true! Every plan is different. I have Empire BC/BS and have had two breast pumps covered within two years!

ETA: They definitely have Medela freestyles. Those were the ones I got.

i'm in the process of this right now. they called me today to tell me that usually it's done after the baby is born. I was a little annoyed cause that doesn't make sense! Don't we all want to be prepared before the baby comes!!!??!! the lady on the phone blamed it on insurance.... i hate insurance sometimes!!!

It took several weeks for me. My doc had to prescribe it for me then they had to contact my insurance. Just keep checking your account online.
