Breast Pump: Medela Pump In Style Advanced or Freestyle?
Which one did you get/plan on getting and why. If you already have it, what are the pros and cons? TIA!

Re: Breast Pump: Medela Pump In Style Advanced or Freestyle?
I'm going to get the Medela Pump In Style Advanced. I read up on it in Baby Bargains (where it got good reviews) & my cousin has one & says it's great for pumping at work (which is what I'll be doing), so I'm going with that one.

Re: Breast Pump: Medela Pump In Style Advanced or Freestyle?
This is going back a few years but i bought the Medela Pump In Style backpack, the Avent Isis & had my sister's Medela Pump (not the backpack).
I liked the backpack the best. I bought it because it doesn't really look like a pump & was easier when I needed to bring it home from the office. The pump comes out of the backpack & is compact, so it could fit in a desk drawer to muffle the sound. It had a small case to bring the milk back & forth with an ice pack. I would use the backpack without the pump so it had room for the icepack with the milk, my trainpass, wallet, etc.
I also had my sister's pump at my house since I was big on doubling my milk supply. I used new tubes & attachments (the milk never touches the pump so I felt it was fine). If you are planning on nursing at home & not obsessive about milk supply, you won't need to bring it back & forth.
When I was nursing with my daughter, I was in a lot of pain so I opted for the Avent Isis (a hand pump). The Medela pump actually pulls your nipple back & forth so it can get sore. Maddie's latch wasn't very good so I had bleeding & cracked nipples (which is fine, normal but hurts -lanolin cream works wonders!). I felt that pump was aggravating it so with the Avent Isis - it gets the milk out by pure suction. Your nipple isn't taken back & forth but instead the milk is drawn out from the suction. It was a nice to have but not necessary.
HTH.
