breast pump PSA (and edgepark rave)
When I called my insurance company (BCBS) a few months back, I was told they would NOT cover my pump unless there was a medical necessity determined AFTER birth. One of my friends told me to ask my doctor for a breast pump prescription and to try going through Edgepark before birth (I am 35 weeks).
I spoke to a representative on Monday, placed the order for a Medela Freestyle and it just shipped - and my insurance is covering 100%!
So if your insurance company said they wouldn't cover it, it's definitely worth trying to go through Edgepark! Woo hoo!

That's awesome! I was told the same thing from my insurance company as well. Can I ask, whe you called Edgepark, did you tell them that you had already been denied by your insurance company or did you act like you have never spoken with them?
When I called EP they asked if I had called my insurance company already and said no and they suggested that I call them first. So I did and was denied. Now I feel funny calling EP and lying that I hadn't. But I really want to see if they can get it through.

they didn't ask but if they did i would have played dumb... they won't ship you anything without letting you know whether its covered (or how much is covered), so its really a win-win. plus i don't think you're technically "denied" by the insurance company unless you submit for reimbursement and they formally deny you.

I agree. I was using another medical supply company (given to me by BCBS) and they told me I'd have to pay the difference of the contracted rate. When I called BCBS they said this was not ture, I then called Edgepark (which was another approved medical supply company on the list) and had to pay nothing
