My insurance Highmark BCBS PPO will cover a breast pump at 90% cost and my co-insurance Guardian will cover the remaining. So they said it will be FREE!!!!
Also, I submitted the order with the Medela Instyle and now that I know it i covered I switched to the Medela FreeStyle HANDSFREE which is the $400 dollar pum.
So you may want to start out with the Medela FreeStyle Handsfree and switch to the Instyle if your Copay is too high.

Def call, they do all the work for you. The have a letter for medical neccesity (which they call you Dr's office to have them sign & Fax back) and then they call your insurance to find out if you are covered.

I have a call in to them but I'm not hopeful. I called my insurance myself and they said they don't cove rit...but i figured one last ditch effort!

Yup!! The woman on the phone specifically said that no UHC plans will cover it.

I dont know, but I would still call.
There were some women not covered by BCBC, but yet a few of us who WERE able to get it completely covered.
There are so many different plans under each insurance, so it really can change from person to person.

I hope they take mine! I have empire NYSHIP. I know jteach got it and described her card and I have the same card.....I really hope so.
I asked for the instyle advanced
If it goes thru do you think I can ask about the handsfree?
Can you change it or will they have to resubmit to the ins co?

This place pizzed me off. They called and said mine was covered...then I get another call from another person saying its not... that I have to go through a different medical supplier. So confused. I am just going to call my insurance and find out.

The thing is, most insurance companies cover it if it's medically necessary (baby in NICU, mom has problems feeding naturally, etc.) so if that is what Edgepark is doing, it's no surprise they are getting all of these insurance companies to pay for them.
It almost borders on fraudulent if that's what they're doing.. but ignorance is bliss if you ladies aren't involved in that part of the "deal"

Not really sure what they get the Dr's to authorize, maybe it just an authorization form v.s medical necessity.(maybe I chose wrong wording) Who knows. I am sure all of our physicians would not be signing something or authorizing something that was not appropriate or fraudulent.
However, you seem to be very concerned...so simply call and inquire yourself.
