breast pump spinoff- renting a hospital grade pump
Does anyone know how much it costs? is there a down payment or a required minimum contract? I got the medela freestyle but I am afraid to open it when the babies come because I hear the hospital ones are so much better. I plan on pumping a lot. tia

Re: breast pump spinoff- renting a hospital grade pump
I EP'ed and started off renting a hospital grade pump for $75 a month. After one month I bought a medela pump in style advance. I too was worried about the difference in strength. I had no isses with switching over and continued to pump until DD was 7.5 months.

I rented a hospital grade pump as well. I think the price of $75/month sounds close to what I paid. It was a long time ago, so I don't remember exactly. My advice would be to rent one for the first month at least. Once your supply is well established, you can switch over (I'm assuming you'll be exclusively pumping?)

I think that's the ideal plan but the sales person in BBB told me that the pump rental places require a 3 month contract, so it evens out in the end. I assume and HOPE I will have a good supplly but I know those things are hard to predict. I wonder what's the most practical here.
I don't know if I'll be exclusively pumping or BF as well. How do people decide that?

Re: breast pump spinoff- renting a hospital grade pump
I had twins and I rented the Medela symphony. I recommend it! The LC in the hospital had me try it and I feel it really helped me produce. They gave me a list of local pharmacies/hospital supply stores that carried it.
I called from the hospital and they had it (with rentals, sometimes someplaces don't have it in stock at the moment). I rented it on a month by month basis. It was $90 per month plus I think I had to put $150 on my credit card that was refunded when the pump was returned. I rented for 2 months and was done at that point. Had no issues with the rental at all.
Hope this helps!

This pretty much exactly!! Twins, pump, mine were in the nicu and I think it was 75$ a month. I ended up purchasing a hospital grade pump on ebay after a few months of renting.

I didn't know you could rent from the hospital. That sounds like a great idea until you see if it works for you
