Breast Pumps through insurance??
If anyone went through their insurance to purchase a pump which one did you get and who did you go through?
I have UHC and they gave me the contact info for Edgepark and they have one that sort of looks like the Medela I got off of my registry (which I'll just return) and then also Genadyn (Lucincare) but I have never heard of them.

I have UHC, too. They gave me those 2 companies as well as Apria.
I plan on ordering my pump early next week. UHC said to call and give your insurance info and they'll tell you which models are covered I thought that Edgepark had the Medela, did it not?
I've also been considering the Ameda breast pump, which I've heard great things about.

Breast Pumps through insurance??
I just ordered mine last week thru edgepark. I too have uhc. The first person I spoke to only gave me that option as well. Whence called back the guy offered me the medela and that's what they are supposedly sending.

I got the Medela Freestyle from Edgepark, but that was almost 2 years ago, so not sure if things have changed.

The woman I spoke with said Apria just does rentals, although as exhausted as I am right now I could have completely misunderstood her. Maybe they do rentals as well as purchases?
I just went online to the Edgepark and Genadyn websites to some initial research and saw one that looked like the Medela through Edgepark but I wasn't sure if it is the same one since it says "BPAF" as the manufacturer.
I havent called the companies directly yet... I'm actually "multi-tasking" right now looking at breast pumps online while I'm listening in on a conference call so I figured I would get some LIF feedback before I called later.

Re: Breast Pumps through insurance??
They have most model Medela's, just not on their website. I called to ask last month. If there's a particular one you were interested in, just call and have them check.

Re: Breast Pumps through insurance??
You can also usually rent them from the hospital, that's what I did, and glad I did not purchase my own bc unfortunately I had a very difficult time with BFing. I wound up pumping for 6 weeks then returning it and going to formula.

that is what i was told when i called like 4 months ago...but when i called now, the recording says 30 days before the babys birth and up to 6 months after birth of the baby...so i will see what they say when/IF i get through to anyone still on hold although since im not a scheduled c-section they may not send it to me yet since its 28 days from my due date and the baby can of course come late...

I was just told the same thing from Edgepark and I have UHC. I called Apria as well and they said they don't carry pumps AT ALL any more.

Breast Pumps through insurance??
Just a heads up, Hygenia get's awesome reviews from a ton of women. I read this girl's review on it and it almost seemed that she liked it better than I like my PIS. http://ohapostrophe.blogspot.com/2011/04/hygeia-enjoye-breast-pump-review.html
