bridal party spinoff....of sorts
lets say for the sake of argument you have a cousin you are close with and you ask them to be in your wedding. this cousin is married and while you by no means hate his/her so, you don't want them in you bp. would you ask that SO to be in the bp?

No, I wouldn't ask. I don't think it's necessary for the cousins' SO to be a part of the BP.

Re: bridal party spinoff....of sorts
this happened to us last year. my mil kept pushing us to have his cousins wife in the bp. why? i couldn't tell you. it was soo annoying. we told her no over and over. and ultimately, we just had dh's cousin in the bp. i just can't figure out why she was so bend on having his wife.
my own bil was not in the bp, which did not bother anyone. my sister told me i was saving them money, so it was no big deal.

My bottom line: I dont think it is necessary for anyone to be in a bridal party if a bride or a groom doesnt want them to be and I wouldnt care if it was your siamese twin. Im sure millions will disagree.

I completely agree with you. it was just frustrating to hear it everytime the subject of the wedding came up.

Re: bridal party spinoff....of sorts
Not at all. One of my cousins is getting married next year and I'm in the BP. Not only would I not expect DH to be asked to be in the bridal party, but I would be downright shocked and confused if he was asked. IMO, a cousin's DH should only be asked if the bride/groom feel close to him, not out of obligation.

I think that if you invite a person to a wedding, you must plan on their SO attending, but you are in no means obligated to "partner up" the bridal party. The bridal party is selected by the bride and groom, not half by the couple, and half by who people are married to.

Nope, my cousin was married at the time of my wedding and her s/o was not included in the bridal party. Of course he attended the wedding but we felt no obligation in making him a part of the BP.
