Has anyone been to a tea party bridal shower?
In Manhattan?
We're in the early stages of planning my sister's shower and we're looking for something unique (like her )...
I know she'd LOVE a tea party w/ all the trimmings. Any ideas/recos? In all the years I lived and worked in Manhattan, I never had tea.

I did ... it was probably six years ago and it was at a small boutique hotel ... I can't remember the name of it.
It was on the east side in the 70's actually just a block east of the park. Dammit ... it was on the same street as my old dentist!! I'll see if I can find anything out from my friend.

Re: Has anyone been to a tea party bridal shower?
Mrs. Ophelia's bridal shower was a "tea" party per se....
Hollie & I went and had a great time!
However, it was held in Brooklyn (Bay Ridge) at the Greenhouse Cafe.

Sounds like fun! Alice's Tea Cup has locations on upper east and west side. Don't know if they do private parties, but the restaurant is adorable.

I did. I did. it was great. food was awesome...a nice change from the usual "Fare"
in Manhattan, try Pastis or Payard...something along those lines.

Re: Has anyone been to a tea party bridal shower?
my shower was a tea party, but it was way out on Long Island. The place was very feminine in decor & my invites had tea cups, my cake had a teapot & cup, the favors were teacups made in Italy with gourmet tea bags all wrapped in tulle. Most of the prizes for the games were tea related. We had an official serving of tea after lunch with the cake. the place did a good job.

Alice's Tea Cup
DH's cousin's shower was there! I wasn't able to make it, but apparently it was very nice--tiny sandwiches and a lady reading tea leaves!

Re: Has anyone been to a tea party bridal shower?
One of my showers was at Alice's Tea Cup in Manhattan.
Honestly, it was cute, but the private room was verryyyy small and cramped and we only had about 15 people. Also, there is no alcohol and all I really wanted was a glass of champagne!

Re: Has anyone been to a tea party bridal shower?
I went to one years ago at Anglers & Writers in the village. It was great, but it was a very small shower--the place isn't huge.

Sadly Anglers and Writers is no longer. I used to work down Hudson St a few blocks and it changed to a place called the Chick Inn back a few years ago.

Aww, that's a shame--it was a nice place --this was 7 years ago though. Still, I fully endorse the tea-party concept! What the heck is the Chick Inn? I looked it up & I think it too has closed & is now an Italian restaurant.

Re: Has anyone been to a tea party bridal shower?
My bridal shower was a tea party - at my sister's house - well in her backyard. It was lovely, and different from the typical shower fare.
So I am no help as far as a place in Manhattan, but it is a very nice idea!!

I am trying to remember the Chick Inn. I stopped working around there in March 2005 and A&W changed to Chick Inn in 2003. I think it was another restaurant but not as quaint as A&W.
Oh yeah, I also like the idea of a tea party bridal shower. I went to Alice's Tea Cup and it was nice, but I agree was small.
There is always St. Regis

Re: Has anyone been to a tea party bridal shower?
Such great feedback on Lady Mendl's!! Thanks for the website link!! We wanted ~$50 pp and it looks like we'll *just* make it. We'll have to give Lipton tea bags in a ziploc for favors, though!
You ladies are so helpful!!
