Bridal Shower Gift Question
I am invited to a bridal shower in the city later this Summer. We are invited to the wedding too, which is in the Fall and in Newport, RI.
How much should I spend on the shower gift?
While I'm at it, how much would you give at the wedding?
The bride is my DH's friend's fiancee.
Disclaimer: I've never been to a bridal shower (or wedding!) in NY.

If it is his close (best) friend, then I would spend about $75-100 for the shower gift and I would give $300-400 $ from both of you for the wedding.
If she is registered at Bed Bath or Macys, you can always use coupons. DH's bestman and his wife (his bet friend for 22 years-gave us $500 for our wedding 9 months ago-) Although oustide of NY, people give less. You also have to base it on what you can afford. Since this is an out of state wedding, I would also take into account my travel expenses to get to the wedding.

for our sat night wedding 2 yrs ago, most couples gave between $150-$250
for my shower, i think the average gifts were around $50...

i think $50 is fair for the bridal shower.
I always have a problem with the wedding gift but I would say the most $300

i usually spend about $40 or $50 on the shower gift, and about $200-$300 for DH and i as the wedding gift.
