Bridal Showers
If you were in a bridal party, how much would you expect to spend on the shower (a luncheon at a restaurant)?
Does $300 sound about right (for everything -with the party being the gift)?

Re: Bridal Showers
it depends on the amount of people and place, but if you have 50 people and its aprox $50 a person with tax and everything =2500 and then add on cake and decorations and a gift for 300, and divide that by 8 bridesmaids = 350 a bridesmaid
so yep i think its normal

Re: Bridal Showers
don't let my Dad see this post
I am making him pay for the food, drinks and favors for my sisters shower
I felt bad asking the bridal party to pay
her FMIL is renting the tables and chairs- and the tent (it's in her back yard)
if my Mom was alive- she would have paid for it
many of them have to travel to NY and the bach party is that night- so it's already not a cheap day for them

Re: Bridal Showers
For my SIL (dh's brother's wife), her mom paid for the shower and we bought her the everyday dishes..the entire set for 8 people. For my BFF, I think her mom paid for it because her mom didn't ask anything of us. I also got her a generous gift off of her registery.

Re: Bridal Showers
I think it's becoming more customary for the mother/MIL to pay for the shower. I didn't have my BP pay (my MIL hosted) and was not asked when I was in a BP.
I think I might resent paying that much because if it's a close friend, I would feel compelled to also give a gift (though the shower is generous, it's not a lasting gift).
To answer your question, I wouldn't expect to pay anything--I've never known anyone personally who was asked to help foot the bill.
