Bringing own stroller to Disney?
I see people saying to rent one there but I feel like it's a waste of $50. Are there major pros to renting?
I would be bringing my own City Mini Double or renting one the same one there. Will my stroller get trashed if I gate check it? I have never flown with kids before and will have two little ones to get through the airport. DD can walk just fine but if we're trying to be quick it's not going to happen without a stroller.
We'll be staying in Disney and will not have a car at all. Not sure if this matters.

Re: Bringing own stroller to Disney?
You will want a stroller bag so your stroller doesn't get torn or dirty. It won't keep it from getting broken though. They do throw them. Most likely your stroller will be fine, but renting is so easy. Then you aren't chancing breaking you good stroller. We rented a city mini GT two years in a row. It was clean and waiting at bell services. DH said it was so much easier. Bc you have to fold it up get it in the bag, out of the bag, and then put it under the magical express bus. One more thing to lug around with you.
We rented from kingdom strollers this time. Last time from babywheels but they are not an authorized dealer so they can't leave the stroller. It had a bright sign on it making it so easy to find in the sea of strollers.
We brought our stroller twice it was fine but others weren't lucky who didn't use bags (torn canopy, broken wheel). Most likely nothing would happen, but once we found we could rent and how easy it was so worth it.

We rented a stroller, but only because we didn't need one in the airport or anything. My children are 4 and 6 and we knew they would need one once we were in the parks to take a break, etc. plus since you are allowed to bring in coolers, it gave us someplace to stick all that crap. If I had needed a stroller in the airport, I probably would not have rented one and just brought my own.

You didn't say how old your kids are, but my girls were 2.5 and 4 the first time we went and I brought two cheapy umbrella strollers for them and they worked like a charm. Totally did not get trashed and even if they did, I wouldn't have cared too much since they were like $25 from BRU.

Re: Bringing own stroller to Disney?
We have taken our double city mini on multiple trips without a stroller bag and I am always surprised how clean we get it back.
For the record, my kids are 3 and 5 now and for the past 2 years, we always thought this will be our last trip with the double stroller, which is why we don't take such good care of it. Still taking the double city mini and it has held up well.

They are 1.5 and 3. We would likely be carrying them through the airport(although I'm sure the 3yo would walk part of the time) plus dragging luggage. I'm trying to decide if a stroller in the airport would be a help or hindrance.
eta- I'm also noticing that the stroller bag is more than renting. Hmmm . . .

Re: Bringing own stroller to Disney?
I've done both. I brought our double city mini and gate checked it- no bag - and it was fine. When we went without our youngest, I rented a city mini single because the only single I own is a Maclaren and I wanted something I could push easily with one hand. Also, my ds likes to walk and we didn't need a stroller in the airport. It is very reasonable and convenient to rent- I would do it again.

Re: Bringing own stroller to Disney?
In your case, with your kids ages, I would definitely bring your own stroller. I've been gate checking strollers for almost 8 years 2-3 times a year and I have never used a bag, or gotten a stroller back dirty or broken. You will be fine.

I always travel with my stroller and have never used a bag. I have never gotten it back dirty or broken. It makes life so much easier in the airport. It's basically the only time we use the stroller. I would bring it.

Bringing own stroller to Disney?
we brought a stroller to Disney, gate checked and got it back jjust fine.
we actually bought a stroller specifically for Disney, as we thought our B-Agile didn't have enough room in the bottom and we were afraid of a bit of wear and tear. We went on craigslist and bought a Greco one that is also a 1 hand fold (wasn't out when we bought the BAgile) for like $40 used. We intended to use on the trip and resell on craigslist after. Ended up liking it so much that we still have it. The constant use in Disney was a bit hard on the stroller.

Your kids are young you need a stroller in the airport. We have never used a stroller bag and always gate check the strollers. We have not had any issues.

Re: Bringing own stroller to Disney?
Since you already own a double I would just bring it. It will mostly likely be fine without a bag. You could also check Craig's List or something for a used bag if you're concerned.

Thanks everyone, I think we'll definitely be brining ours. I'll probably not bother with a bag and hope for the best.

Bringing own stroller to Disney?
We brought our own and the tire went flat on our way from the airport to the hotel. Disney had it repaired for us and offered to pay for a rental (we paid for it in the end and Disney paid for stroller repair). I am going next week and bringing my own again - waste of money IMO to rent one.

We just bought a relatively affordable umbrella stroller to use in Disney, and plan on gate checking it.

Bringing own stroller to Disney?
Southwest has broken my stroller. Not so bad that I couldn't use it, but the cup holder came out of the tray, there used to be plastic clips on the sides that covered the metal screws that keep the stroller together etc. When I tried to make a claim they said they weren't responsible. Of course, Southwest also said they weren't responsible for the tears and damage to my suitcases either.

Bringing own stroller to Disney?
my kids are 2 and 4 and we go next month. I am bringing my single umbrella stroller and renting a double down there. My 4 year old will walk in the airport but my 2 year old would probably need the stroller. So I figure instean of lugging the huge, heavy double - I will use the light single in the airport. I also like the idea of have it with us for short trips that we do that my 4 year old could handle without needing the double. We will use the double for our all day trips to parks but wouldnt need it as much just walking around the hotel or broadwalk. Those time we will just bring the umbrella stroller
