British Parliament Wants to Ban Trump Visit
Did anyone watch the hearing yesterday? They were slamming him so hard as a threat to humanity, basically. They want Theresa May to ban his visit to the UK on the grounds that he is morally and ethically reprehensible and does not represent the values that the British government wants to engage with. May said the visit would go on as planned but they do have a debate planned for later this month.

Re: British Parliament Wants to Ban Trump Visit
Did you even read the article that you posted? No where does it say that the British Parliament wants to ban trump visit. It says that the Parliament will debate it because a petition was filed with the required amount of signatures to have the debate. A petition was also signed with the required amount to have Trump visit.

Yes I read the article and I watched the hearing yesterday so I'm quite aware of what they were saying. The petition that was started is being supported by members of Parliament who are expressing the same concern and calling on May to cancel her visit with Trump. I watched members of Parliament specifically support the petition and the ban.

Well then you should post an article that supports what you are saying because that one certainly doesn't.

Honestly you are just being ridiculous. If you are going to put something like that in the title and post an article, at least make sure the article supports what you are saying, or don't post the article at all. You have to agree that the article does not support most of what you wrote.

Maybe you're less biased then you appear, but it seems that all you do is come on here with the purpose of tearing apart anti-Trump posts.
The actions of the British Parliament are obviously not the norm but all you want to do is split hairs.
If you were even handed in this that would be a different story. However, you never comment when a pro Trump poster comes on with what are almost always - with very few exceptions - factless, antagonistic posts.

I don't know if we are reading the same chat board but there have been very few pro Trump posters that come on at all anymore. Who would I possibly comment on? In fact the last post I remember from a Trump supporter I actually did post that I thought something inappropriate was said.
Regardless, there are a few people that I can really learn from on here, but a lot of posters only want to see one side of this story. They don't believe that there can be anything other than the end of the world coming. I have found so many posters to be so narrow minded and opinionated. If you knew me in real life you would actually know that I care very little about "politics" but I do care about the truth and when I constantly see people embellishing things to prove their own point, frankly I find it infuriating. It's very similar to what I see the media doing and I loathe that as well.

I find that they aren't really posting facts, or links to articles, etc. They are posting their opinions so it's hard to tell someone that their opinion is wrong. On the other side things are being presented as facts that I believe can be inaccurate at times. I would call out one of them just as quickly if they post a link to something that I think is being blown out of proportion.

I think instead of the politics board they should have named this the anti-Trump board.
I am probably the last person that looks at this board that has a different perspective. Since the general consensus is that this is not really a place to debate and more an informational source for people who are anti-Trump, I believe I will do what you are suggesting. But what you should realize is that you have alienated a whole bunch of posters by not engaging in a civilized debate, and that is what is a big part of what is causing this divide.

Honestly my observation on here and other social media is that most Trump supporters are not into having debates. There are a few republicans on here that i like hearing from to gain their perspective but it appears that many trump supporters think his word is the last and are not interested in discussing anything he is doing. If i am wrong i would be thrilled to hear otherwise!

I told myself I would not come back to this, but here I am.
The main distinction is that there are many Republicans that are not Trump Supporters. But we might not agree with everything that the Dems have to say right now either. We are kind of floating in the middle, trying to gain the information. Sensationalizing it doesn't help. Alienating us by making blanket statements doesn't help. Every Democrat was not a Clinton supporter. This is not a black and white issue but you come on this board and if you don't agree with one you must be the other. Saying go back to FHF, that's the problem. I don't care to learn from someone that has that perspective and most other people don't either.

I agree. The very thing you are saying is what is dividing us all. I try to remember that we all have some basic common wants, needs, goals and desires. Hopefully we will all get through this!!

Anyway, my message would be if you want to win this war, stop being combative with everyone and anyone that doesn't agree with you 100%. Try to educate in a way that doesn't condemn people for their views. I can have different view from you on many issues but still believe in social justice and equality for all. And try to see that there are other perspectives. If I am a 9/11 survivor, or I lost a loved one on 9/11, my perspective on a short term immigration limit to countries that have been identified as potential terror threats might be different than yours. Just like if you have a child with a disability your fears about repealing the ACA might be different than mine (btw I am a 9/11 survivor and I have an immediate family member with a severe disability). Just realize we are all coming from different backgrounds and experiences. We can all come together on this but alienating people is not the way to do it.

The man is president. The damage is done. What is there to debate... the speed with which we should strip Muslims of their rights? Or LGBT? Or special needs kids? Did you not see the direction political posts were heading in while they were being posted on FHF? Why do you sound surprised now that they're being posted on the politics board? People were complaining of all the political posts on FHF so we moved here, yet you're still complaining and talking down to people. What you should realize is a majority of people don't give a rat's asss what Trump supporters think anymore. Sorry, I ran out of sugar to coat words in. Time and time again so many of them have proven to be incapable of rational logical discussion and full of hypocrisy. So many of them are still talking about Hillary's emails. Why is that still a relevant topic of interest?

By excluding the country the 9/11 hijackers came from on the ban? That's somehow supposed to give us some sense of comfort?

I don't want to engage with you but 9/11 was 15 years ago. Terror threats today are very different than terror threats 15 years ago. ISIS was not a threat during 9/11 it was Al Qaeda.

I believe Germany might be looking at something similar? Anyway, if Trump was into self-reflection, maybe he would realize that people want him to slow down and look at what people really want (it's not a wall IMO.)

Is the San Bernadino attack in 2015 too long ago? One of the shooters was born in Pakistan, the other born here but of Pakistani descent. Yet, Pakistan is not on the banned list.
Obviously you can have different views, but you respond to many of the people you disagree with on these political posts by talking down to them and being condescending. Your point gets lost in your delivery. And It's hard to believe anyone would be a crusader for social justice and equality for all by banning Muslims from entry and prioritizing Christians at the head of the line.

I don't intentionally talk down to anyone but I do think that some people love the sensationalist journalism that goes on. I have a hard time not pointing that out and sometimes my delivery might not be the best.
As for you, I think that if you are the same IRL as you are on here, you are doing yourself a disservice. You have the opportunity to educate and sway people one way, but instead you are combative and dismissive. You will alienate all of those that don't agree with you. You will further the divide.

ETA: and btw you missed the ENTIRE point of my post which is not surprising!
Yes. Condescending is exactly it.
